Best video editing software for making trailers/movies?

What's the easiest to learn and use MPEG editor that allows you to edit trailers out of large movie files and add domain name overlays to each frame?

I know Adobe has Premier, but is there a small less-capable program out there that's more tailored to what we do?

Thanks all

Vegas Video for more complex jobs, or Pinnacle Studio but it's quite basic...

Pinnacle Studio is VERY easy and fast. It's bare bones but it gets the job done.

Final Cut Studio

It's for Macintosh but it's what all the Hollywood studios use

We use Premiere 7, but we're still having problems making clear MPEGs that are manageable in size. We're thinking about switching to Vegas 5.0

Nydahl & FoundrySteve, there is actually no Premiere 7.0, it was called Premiere Pro 1.0 upon release and the newest version is now Premiere Pro 1.5.1

And FoundrySteve, you should be able to make MPEGs of any size and quality no matter which editor you use. You shouldn't have to change editors to make a specific final output format.

And of course this begs the question, why the hell are you guys (and everyone else that posts questions like this constantly) trying to edit MPEGs into trailers? Is the original footage in DV AVI format not available? Editing MPEGs is never a good idea, it's a final output format and will never really look that great.

i would be willing to guess that if you know what you're doing, any program can make good trailers/movies.
