what's up with the Canadians?

I went to Vancouver BC for a few days earlier this week to see Mario and the Pens play the Vancouver Canucks in hockey. It was a great trip but I couldn't help thinking a few things. First, it seemed like I had stepped through a time warp that had taken me back 10 years. Everywhere we went any music that was playing was from about 10 years ago and yet they were calling it " modern" and then we were watching the news and everytime there was a story that took place outside of Canada the news anchors would point out if anyone involved in the story was Canadian. What's up with that?

However there were a couple things that really were cool. At the game they sang the US national anthem and nobody talked and most everyone clapped and cheered at the end it was nothing like the cheers for the Canadian anthem but it still damn near brought a tear to my eye. And then when Mario Lemieux scored everyone was on their feet clapping and cheering so you knew that he had just scored the goal that brought the pens within 1 of tying but they still appreciate the guy as one of the greatest.

all in all though it was good trip, driking, gambling, the skytrain, good times!

We like to know if we were involved in anyway...

I do think, however, that many of the people in Vancouver were wondering what is up with Americans too because I had forgotten my coat so it's freezing fucking cold and I was running around with no coat on and everyone else was bundled up. People kept looking at me like I was insane or something

Sure the news anchors may have pointed out if anyone involved in a story was Canadian, the reason you don't notice that in the USA is that they only report stories that involve Americans. :-)

About the 10 year old music, I think you're just crazy. Our radio and music TV stations play the exact same stuff as yours, it's just too bad it's all crap. I wish they'd play 10 year old music more often, I'd rather hear Nirvana than NSYNC anyday.

If you didn't realise, a large amount of news anchors in the States are actually Canadian. I guess our clear English is easier for most Americans to understand.
