Is this technique really the best way to have your pay sites set up?

And before you say "Well, we have no-popup options for webmaster to promote" let me say this...

You pay affiliates $10 to $20 LESS for signups under that option. Nice little thing you guys have going here. The choice is I either bombard my surfers with console after console after console, or I choose the no-console option and eat 30 or 40% of my profit because of it.

Whatever.... of course I'll keep promoting sponsors, but will continue to look for good ones that don't dump an avalanche of exits and consoles on surfers and then offer me LESS commission if I want a clean tour to promote. How many surfers say "Never again!" after hitting sites like that?

Exits are not about pay sites not selling themselves...if the surfer doesn't want to buy for whatever reason, why not offer them other options? shouldn't the sponsors maximize their income to justify paying you $30-35 on a $2.95 trial? Face it, members just aren't worth what they used to be.

The most useless exit consoles I've seen are the ones that 404 and there are quite a few out there that do that.

The funniest ones I've seen are one sites that were displaying the html code instead of the web page. It wasn't even very pretty html code but what can you expect from someone who can't get an exit console right.

Obviously someone doesn't check their work. Perhaps they don't like getting stuck in exit console hell either.

If you convert 1 in 500 then that means 499 people didn't buy anything. Trying to make money from those 499 is what makes your payout bigger for tours with consoles.

And again, having ONE or two, maybe three (pushing it) consoles on exit "in order to offer the surfer something different" is okay in my book.

I don't like sending my traffic to sites with popup chains either, but if you want $30+ per signup, sponsors have to make money somehow.haThat's why you get the popups, cross sales, email collection boxes, and in some cases nasty things like stolen back button traffic. They're not going to make a profit paying out $35 for a $3 trial on a clean tour, trying to recoup the payout and a profit just from the membership fees. The numbers just don't add up, unless they shave a lot or have some sort of abnormally well performing site. If you want clean tours and no traffic leaks, basically your options from an affiliate standpoint are recurring programs or the lesser payout tours.

Not all sponsors have the philosophy that because its an exit, webmasters should be paid less. If the webmaster chooses to use exits, SEXMoney.com carries the webmasters ID thru all exits, and pays them their full commission. We do not penalize the webmaster because he or she choses to use exits.

SEXMoney.com offers links with both consoles and without. We pay the same commission on either.

Yeah but you're a 50/50 program.

I don't have any exit consoles or cross sales on my site either.

The console vs no console tour is about per sign up programs.
A revshare program doesn't need exit consoles to make payouts, because they're just paying out a percentage of what the surfer spends at the site.

For clarification, for guys like you, I will say this...... My issue is with sponsors who bury MY surfers with popups. Not a few, but several.... in some cases tons. Enough to crash your computer even. THEN they turn around and graciously offer a no-console option but of course pay 30 to 50% less on commission.

Now, from an affiliate standpoint, If I put up a few listings on thehun tomorrow (and he will ONLY accept the no-console option) and I send 15 or 20 signups to that program, how are those signups any less valuable than if they were sent through popup hell?

Do you... do you see kind of, sort of.... where I'm coming from here?


And AGAIN dude...... sponsors who keep the popups down to at least a tolerable level and don't drop the commission by too much, I have no issue with.

You know, from an affiliate standpoint, there certainly aRE reasons to bitch here. Affiliates make less money than ever before....

TGP's and link lists only accept clean tours forcing affiliates to take a lower commission from sponsors
Being Canadian I've taken a 40% pay cut just from the lousy US exchange rate
Submission software, not needed years ago, costs money
Paid submissions, not needed years ago, costs money

I could sit here all day and list the annoyances that go hand-in-hand with promoting a sponsor to make money. Sometimes a good rant is the only way to get things off your chest, and like it or not that's what I'm doing.
