:2cents Suicide Girls Affiliate Program

You get paid $5 for a $9 signup. $10 for an $18 signup. $20 for a $48 signup. Looks something like a partnership program except it's not. You get roughly 50% one-time and that's it.

Not that great.

I heard the conversion rate is off the hook though and the media coverage is incredible.

I've seen their site mentioned on like 4 different TV networks.

Really ? The stats suck. All you see is whether you got a signup or not. No hits, no raws, no uniques, no referrals, nothing.

If you've got the traffic, it converts like hell. Just track the click stats on your end (which you should do anyways) and you'll see.

Sure, the payouts might not be amazing, but at the signup rate they charge, they've already got a low profit margin to begin with.

If it was revshare, it would be really worth it. Most members stay for months if not years. I've been a member myself since Jan 2004 (16 months).

Are you referring to those who run SuicideGirls are the affiliates who won't push it due to low payouts?

LOL.
To be honest, they really don't. They get about 2000-3000 new members every month and they retain like nothing else. Many of the members also promote the site in return for credits that can redeemed for SG merchandise or memberships.

Any signups that affiliates send are icing on the cake.

If they don't need affiliates, why are they running an affiliate program ? Don't make such stupid comments. You look like an idiot. It's NOT a new niche by far. Why do some of the "Alt" people like to pretend they were the first ? Please.

Yeah yeah, I know.. You're old school. Go smoke a fucking clove cigarette, turn on some Fields of the Nephilim, cut 'evil' in your forearm and shut the fuck up.

Are your comments directed at me?

Like I said, they don't need affiliates. Read the post I made before yours. They get 2000+ new members monthly, plus rebills, WITHOUT affiliates. Running an affiliate program is just icing on the cake for them.

That niche is getting overexposed in the last few years.

There will be more alt porn community sites than MILF sites soon.

Stolen from another site:

S..... Girls ? This company has been featured on TV and is somewhat trendy
at the moment. However, what models need to know is that while they want models to
work pretty much exclusively for them alone, they (the models) really seem to make very
little money in the long run. We recently interviewed one of their original models,
who actually had put a tattoo of their logo on herself, and she said she had earned
a measly $100 for the first shoot and had received $50 for her subsequent efforts
(mainly journal-keeping and responding to fan mail). Maybe it actually makes more
sense to work, get paid, and then get called back again to work some more, get
paid, and so on instead of having to keep a journal, answer e-mail from some
guys who might turn out to be stalkers, etc. At any rate, a good erotic model
can make pretty good money in Portland by working with a number of photographers,
instead of committing to just one. And, quite frankly, saying "I'm a S...... Girl"
and a buck will get you a cup of coffee, but not much else in Portland.

HERE is a good start on S..... Girls. It's an article from local titty bar rag, The Exotic.

An e-mail on S...... Girls from Amanda (withheld)@hotmail.com: "I recently
set up an interview with chloe from suicide girls. I had to drive to an area i'm not
familiar with that had no near parking and then she didn't even bother to show. I sent
her an e-mail via my cell phone while there to let her know I was there and where was
she, however I did not recieve any response until the next day. She sent me an e-mail
saying I must have been mistaken and that she was sure our appointment was for later
in the week. I simply sent back to her the e-mail she had originally sent me making
the appointment at her chosen location and time. No response since.

From g*******@netscape.net: (after getting the boot from S......Girls'models
forum for violating their TOS by quoting the above criticism of the site): "I'm curious
because: The terms of service for modeling are not published. I contributed to a lengthy
thread about nudity expectations for picture set acceptance, the tenor of which occasion-
ally drifted toward dissatisfaction with those standards. This topic may reveal a more
accurate picture of the degree to which the community that supports this site with membership
dues actually influences its evolution. I've never used the List Item codes before. My attor-
ney advises me that in her opinion, posting a third party's criticism of this site does not
constitute published grounds for account suspension. This posting makes no demands upon the
staff of the site. This posting does not constitute an attack by its poster on the people
who work on the site. This poster has a generally positive attitude toward the site, the
girls and the people who build the site (which IMHO, dear reader, includes you and me, and
every dues paying member, too). The excerpt suggests that the level of an SGs community
participation (journal keeping, responding to emails) influences the opportunity for
posting of sets.

Webmaster note: Speaking from my own experience, I attempted for the longest time to
contact these California transplants about two things. I noticed that they had on their
site a model I had used before and to whom I could give some additional work, had I had
some current contact info. I also thought we could trade models a bit, if only to send
the ones who were a bit too alternative for me their way, and for them to send the ones
who were not alternative enough mine. I finally had to get pretty strident before one of
them replied that they considered my site "competition" and that therefor it wasn't in
their interest to set up that sort of relationship with me. (Notice what's missing there:
what might be good for the models.) Anyway, this response revealed their abysmal ignorance
of how adult/erotic sites work. You can compete and cooperate. Sites routinely send exiting
traffic to similar sites in exchange for a share of any sales the second site makes. At any
rate, S...... Girls does not like its models to work for other erotic sites. Bear
that in mind if you want to interview with them. (Of course, most girls don't honor this
restriction: I've worked with several former S...... Girls models.)

More on S...... Girls: Recently, S...... Girls "rep" Chloe made arrangments to meet with
four girls at a NW 23rd street coffee shop, and then blew the interview off. When contacted
about it after wasting four man-hours, she excused herself saying things were "hectic," and
suggested they come by the office instead. The record seems to show that the attitude at this
place is that making appointments to interview models is optional when things get hectic. And,
yes, if it was a "cattle call," one would think the models should have been told. (This info
is from an e-mail sent by one of the jilted girls.kj

I don't know them personally because they always refuse to meet with anybody who is actually in the industry.

What I do know is that I have worked with many of their models and only 1 of them was happy with how she was treated by them.

Its spread like a cult via viral marketing. They are doing just fine without affiliates and Im sure they will do ever better with them.

Who cares what they pay models Im sure they have girls lining up to be in the "suicide girl army" as a status symbol to help the cult at this point.

Interesting Sites about SG model experiences. Since there are so many of them, maybe there's something to it.

When you join the site, you have the option of having a public account (where you can post a profile, keep a journal, participate in the message forums and discussion groups, etc.) or a private account where you can only see the pictures and read the forums/profiles.

All new members who join with a public account are automatically placed in the "Newbie" discussion group for 60 days. At any given time, there are over 4500 members in the newbie group. And that's only counting public accounts.

For those talking about how the models claim to be treated badly, I think anyone who shoots content will have a few models talk badly about them. It's inevitable. There are currently 645 Suicide Girls, with a new one added daily. There's bound to be a few models who aren't happy.

The site works differently from your typical porn site. Girls apply by sending in 3 pictures and a bio of themselves. Dozens of girls apply on a daily basis. Those who are accepted then become limbo girls. At that point, they have to submit a unique photoset of themselves. They can have the photoset shot free of charge by one of the official photographers (who can be found in Cali, Texas, Ohio, Oregon, UK, Italy, Montreal, Toronto or BC) or at their own expense by someone else.

If the photoset is accepted (it has to be well-shot, good amount of nudity and a unique theme), the girl is paid, sent some SG swag, and the set is placed in the queue to appear on the site within the next few months.

The girls are not expected to interact in the site, but they are encouraged to. No remuneration is offered, so none is to be expected. Many of the SGs were members of the site before becoming an SG and so they continue to keep journals and participate. Those who weren't members are usually drawn to the community aspect of the site and stick around the participate.

The site has many close-knit communities on it. Many of the discussion are regional and hold regular get-togethers. For example, Montreal has a discussion group with approximately 80 members. A group of 15-25 of us get together at least twice a month for something.

I count 9 Suicide Girls amongst my friends as well as Montreal's official photographer. The only bad thing I've ever heard any of them say about SG is that in the SG-only discussion group, there's often a lot of bickering and name-calling (imagine a forum composed of 600+ girls who all pose nude on the same site). Other than that, they love the site. They're paid well for their work and they love the community aspect of it. Models are free to pose for whoever they want (they aren't exclusive to the site). However, if they pose for what could be considered a competitor (a SpookyCash site, for example), they cannot mention it on SG.

From what I've heard, models are paid $200 per set. I don't shoot content, but I've seen prices here and that seems decent for solo-girl softcore to me. Like JulianSosa said, there are literally hundreds of girls who strive to be part of the SG Army for nothing else but a status symbol. The most popular SG discussion group is the "Hopefuls" group which has over 10K members.

Not that great.
Yeah, that is horrible. They're either clueless or just dont care whether or not they have affiliates.

That is still not as bad as what topheavyamateurs.com did with their affiliate program though. They started out as 60/40 recurring for life and got lots of webmasters to promote them. Then a year into their program, they change their payout structure to 33% payout with no recurring. Total scammers.

Another sponsor that just pays 50/50 with no recurring is Abby Winters (http://abbywinters.com/main.php?page=affiliates) . They're so elite, they tell you straight up on their page, that you mean shit to them.

"While we're interested in growing our site, we're not going to do the things many affiliates demand. We'd love to have you on board, but our site is doing just fine without you."

Lol.

Only site I've ever joined in my time on the web. Was a damn good site. Sykkboy told me about it. I have zero doubt it converts like a mother fucker and retains incredibly well.
