Steve Cohen, stealer of Sex.com believes there is no money in porn

This sentence was taken from the new issue of Xbiz, I hope you don't mind guys. "Cohen believes that the Sex.com site is near worthless. With all the P2P networks there, like Kazaa and Limewire, people can get their sex for free, He said. "
I have something to say about this. I believe Steve Cohen would not still be battling for this name and caring about it if there is no money in porn. It makes me mad that he can say such a thing.

Well it is possible when you build up large sites to have great revenues but not so great profits. You see this a lot when companies transition from profitable small operations and then go "grand" scale and the next thing you know they go belly up.

Mostly this occurs from bloated staff costs and overhead from non-essential corporate spending like traveling on private jets, buying luxury cars for execs, throwing lavish parties, non-productive marketing, etc.

I've seen many companies in the $1 to $10 Million range being just as profitable or profitable for the owner as companies doing hundreds of millions.

So just cause a significant company could do big revenues you have to see the bottom line to know what's really going on.

i think history will prove you right. this is a classic case of what you are talking about. many were shocked when they took down the banner farm and said it was a mistake. i think it probably was as well.

I think there is no doubt that sex.com makes great profits

the banner farm made probably great profits too, but remember, it was 1998 or so and the conversions in this industry were overall a few times better than they are now

Well put. I know other guys in this business who have boats and Mercedes and lots of toys, which all add up.

Cohen has been described as an international con man. He is also a fugitive. So everything he says should be taken with a grain of salt.

The battle was more than just about ego, or who is more clever. Cohen wouldn't have fought so hard for SEX.COM if it were not a valueable asset.

I think Cohen is just trying to make himself feel better by muttering such non-sense. If anything, SEX.COM is appreciating in value, not diminishing.

Gary Kremen's use of it is another matter. It's not how I would use the domain, and I feel it is underutilized.

I used to read a lot of stories about Cohen and his casinos in the news here in Israel. I posted the articles on the O board until someone decided they were negative to Kremen. Next thing I knew I was kicked off that board.

I stopped writing about Cohen until I read this. I found the articles on this forum to be funny. I like reading about Zeev Rosenstein, he is the godfather of our mafia here in Israel.

Cohen and Rosenstein owned several casinos in Europe together until Rosenstein went to jail. Now it seems that Cohen has taken over control and ownership of all the casinos.

There are some interesting articles written about Cohen on http://www.dionysians.org/forum/arch....php/t-89.html

The only way I know when someone is rich is when they can donate millions and it has no financial effect on their net worth. Cohen?s donations to the Tsunami Relief and to the Chinese Orphanage have been plastered on the news over here.

I started a sex site but my duties in the Israel IDF forced me to close it down. My unit was activated and my active duty just ended. Now I am thinking about returning back and setting us a new web site. Money is tight here in Israel. Not too many tourist visiting and spending money in Israel these days.

Uri

Why don't you finish the rest of his quote and put this statement in context?

Cohen believes that the Sex.com site is near worthless. "With all the P2P networks there, like Kazaa and Limewire, people can get their sex for free." He said. With Kremen and Sex.com, "you got a guy basically running a search engine."

The way I take it is he thinks putting a search engine on such a prime domain is stupid.

Tucker you have it wrong. Cohen didn't start Earthstation 5, it was Cohen's partner Zeev Rosenstein, Yossi Ginossar and Mohammed Rachid also known as Ras Kabir (Big head).

Rosenstein, Yossi Ginossar and Rachid were the owners of the casino in Jericho long before Cohen entered the picture. Rachid and his brother started earthstation 5 with Rosenstein and Ginossar.

Ginossar was prior to his death, was the head of Israel intelligence and Rachid was the money man for Arafat prior to his death.

It was no secret that the Earthstation 5 program had lots of problems. Most of the time it just didn?t work and Rosenstein asked Cohen for his help.

Cohen is who destroyed Earthstation 5. They put him in charge and he fired everyone and moved the users to Earthreactor.com.
