Only 36% Vote For Labour (UK Election)

Its amazing that Labour can get a third term when only 36% of every vote cast was for labour. In the US election half of the population voted for George bush but in our election, around a third of the voting population voted for Labour.

For anyone who doesnt understand the system. Each constituency results in an additional seat. If Conversative get 10,000 votes and Labour gets 10,001 votes, labour wins the constituency (location) and therefore, the seat. Yes, labour does have over a 100 more seats than conversative but the fact is that only 36% of all votes cast were for Labour.

Amazing system we have..... amazingly fucked up. Still im glad that Labour have lost approximately 100 of their majority seats as it all makes for better democracy in the UK.

well, a three party system splits things up a bit more than a two party system. Also, the number of minor parties (Respect, UKIP, etc) that made a respectable showing should worry the Torries more than Labour in many ways.

That equates to about 20% of the British population who were eligible to vote - in other words, 80% of the British population who were eligible to vote DIDN'T vote for Labour...

Does it really matter? Everyone knows what the system is and has to win within that system. The strong survive. The weak become nothing more than a nuisance.

Unfortunately i'm not suprised. However, the swing away from labour in each constituancy was around 10%... in one case I believe it was 49% [minority party]

The major problem that I can see is that a number of voters believe they are voting for the P.M as apposed to labour in their constituancy. [These would be the single mums living on welfare, or illegal aliens] Dieee.

Oh well, another 4 years -_-''

36% of the total votes is all that matters.

36% is more then a third and that is enough
