Im not a drinker though but my dad is giving me a really nice bottle of some wine that I want to keep so i wanted to make sure it was cool to put it in my suitcsae

I didn't say it was IMPOSSIBLE -- just "not allowed".
I've seen way too many people get bounced from planes for no good reason to break
any
rule on a plane myself.
Funny how all pretense of a "customers come first" mandate has flown out the window for the domestic carriers.

If you could fit it in your carry-on I doubt it would be a problem. I've gone through with tequilla at least a dozen times and never had a problem.
