We got fuskered

First thing I noticed was all the sites running very slowly. When i looked at the stats I saw this link at the top of the refferers list.

http://www.fuckiefuckie.com/fusker/index.php

and then this one just below.

http://www.fuckiefuckie.com/fusker/

Got onto the host immediately and told them to block the URL, need to get some better protection against this.

They listed a lot of sets and from what I can see they got a lot of views, which is flattering, they also sent a few sign ups. But I can't have the server grinding to a halt.

I will look to upgrading it Monday with more memory and a dual CPU and put a gallery or two on Fusker of sample pics with our logo on the pictures, see if it's a good source of traffic/sign ups.

Jace, 99.9% of fusker sites are run by script fiddies without a clue. Simple htaccess methods block them out and they don't come back. I personally find that redirecting them to ******* is VERY effecient.

Any programs stupid enough to sponsor these theives should be ashemd of themselves.

Alex

it took me making a huge stink about it on 2-3 boards for avnads.com to remove fusker sites from their list of places

Hurray! Even ******* has a noble purpose. And if ******* does, then everyone does. Which means that there IS a benevolent deity watching over us all.

Here ya go. This is the way I block out all fuskers with .htaccess. And I even make some money off them. Instead of the pics they are trying to hotlink, the surfer sees an ad I have made up. The ad asks them to type the url in my ad in their address bar. The result, fusker doesn't get my pics, and I make the occassional sale.

Options +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch
RewriteEngine on

RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} .*.fusker* [NC]
RewriteRule .*\.(gif|jpg|jpeg|bmp)$ http://www.yourdomain.com/images/hotlink.gif [R,NC]

Have fun! P.S. Your server configuration may not need
Options +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch
Try it without first.

Keep an eye on your server stats. Make a point of checking your logs first thing each day. Then modify your htaccess to block the sites that are hotlinking you. Fusker operates on multiple domains now so you have to be vigilant.
