She a civilian proved that diplomacy was possible during Vietnam.
She was the only one of a small handful in entertianment that spoke about giving peace a chance in a war that was botched and fueled with propaganda. Not to mention a war that was not worth fighting and dying for by any means.
The ones that stood up and spoke a message were chastised and lied about and suffered huge defamation by the media.

Much like today's war in Iraq.

No shit, no one is pretending she didn't sell out the country, and could definately be called a traitor. Now that she has a book published and has alegedly found "Jesus", she apologised for her "misjudgement." Not for the lives that were lost as a result of her actions. The guy back east at the book signature hour for her and spit a wad of chewing tobacco in her kisser gets a :thumbsup from me and many others. And he was not a tobacco user!
