Exclusive v Brokering

Todays content market is definitely on the rise, sales are good and getting better all the time, both on the www.bargainbasementcontent.com and the www.paulmarkham.com content.

Seems lots of people want their own content rather than rely on free. However the prices on exclusive don't seem to have budged. So I was wondering who finds it more profitable to sell exclusive and who finds it better to broker content through different companies?

I know we find it far more profitable to shoot and sell non exclusive than anyone will pay for exclusive, but I took a long time to build the stores. Some shooters do not have the time or staff to do what I did. But how many earn more money by brokering through different outlets than selling to one?

J$tyle$ taught me you can find one guy who will but it for $200, 20 who will buy it for $40 and 100 who will but it for $10.

So shooters and brokers give me your thoughts.

BTW - good subject as usual, Paul

ARS and Penthouse came to me earlier this year and BOTH asked me to find them MORE CONTENT they can OWN so they could lower their monthly nut from feed expenses! They were not necessarily interested in exclusive or semi-exclusive - just good content at a reasonable price. They weren't even looking for "blowouts" - moreso - high-quality images and a lot of video!

This spurred me to develop a business designed to sell DVD video licenses. Savy webmasters KNOW their surfers are more interested in video today than ever before and THEY can control the updates on their own!

3 weeks ago I launched http://www.TheContentStore.com to satisfy the increased demand. There are 450+ titles available from Metro Interactive that have never been licensed to webmasters before.

That being said, at this point, most videos have only been sold once or twice, if at all - so they're all either exclusive or semi-exclusive!



We're adding close to 2000 more very shortly, and presently cover 40 Niches.

i tell you what my problem with that and brokering in general is. We're in this business for the long run - not to sell some pictures and make quick money. From the beginning we were refusing offers like that because we wanted to build our own brand - and this starts to payout now. when our stuff simply disappears in someone elses shop it might make us some extra bucks - but it doesn't help us with our brand and reputation. so as soon as i find a broker that also clearly shows who shot those sets and links back to us (cause we are doing not that bad with exclusive stuff too and want to keep that) - then I might be interested.

Dificult question to answer but will have a stab at it.

Set (150 pics) or video (12 to 25 mins) only
Solo girl
$150 to $500.

Lesbian
$300 to $1,000

Hardcore
$500 to $1,500

For a set and a video add 50%

For any decent shooter these are poor returns compared with non exclusive. Nor with the addition of phone content the non exclusive market is getting stronger for the shooters who want a long term return from a days work. Some of course can't afford to wait and work from check to check, a lot can't shoot unless you send them money to pay the model.

Calculate those prices against a set selling 20 times at $40 and a set/video 20 times at $70. Solo girl it's easy to make more money brokering, hardcore can be a bit of a struggle, unless you are good.

And this is the problem, we see lots of shooters work who want us to broker for them, but know their stuff will not sell. You have to produce the porn first.

MaDalton you are selling your own content off your own site, that is even better than brokering. do you notice I do not broker. Brokering is an option for those without the content store.

but this is the point, sites are waking up to the fact that there are two kinds of content providers.

A) www.paulmarkham.com top of it's line teen content, priced not to saturate the market (wish it did I would be as rich as Lensman ) and a license that does not allow it to be given to every affiliate who signs up. Like the exclusive content. But sets when they are brand new and they will be as good as exclusive.

B) ww.bargainbasementcontent.com cheap and loose license, yes it can get around but thats my point. Is it better for a content producer to sell it once for $150 or 100 times for $10?

What has happened ove rthe last year is the content business has consolidated and we have the added market of phone porn.

There are now some good and honest brokers who lwill return you a lot more on a set than exclusive will ever pay.

This is how I got into selling porn on the Internet, selling via brokers liks Photorama, John Copeland and Scarlett. Some of these companies made us over $800 on a solo girl set. Photorama send us a check every month.

Then in 2002 the market changed and lots of shooters from "Russia" turned up reduced the price and the buyers were buying on price and as the market grew no one noticed the difference in returns, just less inverstment in content.

Today the market has changed again, the big growth of newbie surfers is over, today as an industry we sell to a repeat buyer. They are not interested in the price of the set or how exclusive it is. They are paying us to get their dicks hard.

Pornography does that, pictures of naked people can do it but not as well. So pornographers are back making money again.

If the best you can do is get $150 from a paysite for exclusive, then fine. But what you are saying is your content will not sell 10 times at $35 and earn you more money.
