    Standard Size to Build Sites?

Anyone still build with 800x600 viewers in mind or is the standard now 1024x768?

    Thanks.

            most surfers are on 1024x768.
but the problem is the mentally handicapped who run tgp's and link lists think everyone in the world except them is on 800x600, so you won't get excepted on any other resolution but 800x600.

There really are still a shitload of people at 800x600. I feel you are better off building to that. This way people at 1024 can still see everything, they really don't lose too much. If you build it at 1024, the people at 800 can't see it all and are fucked.

No, we don't think _everyone_ is on 800x600. But there's still a lot of people on 800x600.

If you design a site for 1024x768, you fuck over all the 800x600 people (around 35% depending on where you get the stats from). Scrolling horizontally on a site is just plain annoying.
If you design a site for 800x600, you don't fuck anyone over. Everybody will be able to see it.

Design for 320x240 and you'll do just fine.
