Have 2 Rottweilers ... Maybe 3?

My sister, who is a Vet, just called and asked me if I'd take a third Rottweiler.

It's 9 months old and some idiot wanted to put it down because it has cherry eye (Vein pops out in it's eye). My sister refused to put it to sleep and made the person sign it over to her then and there.

My sister will correct the eye problem, and I am considering taking the dog. The thing is I already have two, and three could be a real handfull.

What to do, what to do.

I am in the financial position to live in whatever size space I want. Currently I'm in a house with a fairly large back yard. Thing is, they prefer to be with people and spend very little time in the yard. They get walked for exercise. Space isn't really the concern. It's been said that two dogs are pets, but three are a pack.

Well that's a point for taking it, actually. Anything the French don't like, is usually good. ;)

I'm going to foster this dog until it gets better. It currently has pneumonia, but is improving. If my dogs will not try and kill it I'll bring it home Friday. If you're serious, hit me up on ICQ and we can see what's up.

All I have to say is, watch out for your alarm clock around his dogs.

I was asking because I was curious how they would handle a third coming in. My boys are well behaved.

My male tends to be dog-dog aggressive. This one is still young, only 9 months old and female so he might be alright. I'm going to take both my dogs to my sister's office on Friday and see what happens in the parking lot.

That's another idea, but I won't send a dog recovering from pneumonia there. That's why I'll probably foster it until it's totally healthy, and then possibly send it to rescue. I'm undecided on what I'm going to do, I guess I'll have to wait until friday and see how my dogs take it.

Of course you should take the dog. If it doesn't work out at least you know he will be loved and taken care of while you shop around to find him a good home.

And I know you've got the cash your one of my biggest affiliates so KEEP THE PUPPY!

I have a doberman, she's basically nuts!! I also walk a rottweiler for a friend who basically can't handle the dog due to his size, but he's a gentle giant! I would take a rottweiler in a second (",)

Yes its likely she won't try to challenge him. As long as she knows her place in the pecking order you should be fine.

Hard to tell with the parking lot thing though. As I am sure you know its a lot different when you are on the dogs home turf. Your male may like her there and change his mind at home.
