I have a source file that's a 640x480 MPEG.

I render it as a smaller mpeg just fine, but when I try to render as WMV it puts these annoying black borders on the sides. (Sort of like watching a widescreen movie on your TV....except the black is on the sides instead of the top and bottom)

Doesn't matter what size I try to make the output file, or whether I check or uncheck the "stretch output" box when I render.

Anyone have this problem before and know a workaround?

That probably happened because you didnt start with 720x480 , if getting rid of the black bars is important try rerending the mpeg to 720x480 then do the wmv. Totell you the truth it has never came up for me lol.

This is very simple.

Set up your project setting to MATCH your source video settings.
If you're input in 640x480 1.0 pixels,, then set up your project to match. Then you can output whatever you want. Try it out youl'l see

Bring your source file up on the timeline, right click on the video portion of the file and click "Video/Event Pan Crop". When that window pops up, right click in the box and click "Match Output Aspect" - I think that'll stretch your vid out to be the right size - give it a try.

video settings must match project settings

This is very simple.

Set up your project setting to MATCH your source video settings.
If you're input in 640x480 1.0 pixels,, then set up your project to match. Then you can output whatever you want. Try it out youl'l see

You can also check properties and if it's set at the NTSC level, simply change it to 1.0..square..multimedia..and bars will be gone that way too.
