my uncle wants to setup his own internet radio, but he doesnt have any ideas on how it all works

so what does an internet radio consist of? also what is required to setup the internet radio?

so I'm just trying to get some info right now...

A windows media encoder and windows server.

Rather easy to setup

Google shoutcast for more info

Just need a mic and a good connection

Or you can set it up on a dedicated server and connect to it remotely

Most radio stations that are of any decent size use Windows Media, MP3 and AAC broadcasts. I think the biggest requirement is BW.

it really doesn't use as much bandwidth as people think...i have a monthly breaks show I do, i get about 40 listeners, and it doesn't even break 5gb a show at 128kbps

if it's prerecorded, I guess we can just upload the file on the server and launch it from there on a shoutcast server?

what to ppl like ynotradio and stuff use?

Drop me an email at webmaster @ ynotradio.com and I'll give ya the run down on what we use. There's a strong "streamie" and "webcaster" community out there. Plenty of help and assistance for the asking, ya just need to ask the right peeps.
