Explain Gay vs. Hetro to me.

I don't understand why the big deal about homesexuality.

But I see it constantly around me amongst people. "Ohh your gay" "Queer!" etc etc.

Whats the big deal if someone isn't hetrosexual? It's just sex and if it isn't your cup of tea then why do you care what someone does?

Well no offense but I don't remember a time anyone was fired from their job, had their children taken away, been ridiculed on the street or beaten up for being hetrosexual.
