any vegas people know what the law is on kiddies riding rocket bikes and choppers?

I found a North Las Vegas PDF that makes it pretty clear that kids can't operate these rocket bikes or scooter bikes. We have small boys driving rocket bikes and mini choppers around the streets of our neighborhood here in Vegas. It pisses me off 'cause it's real obvious to me that kiddies shouldn't be driving motor vehicles no matter how small and toylike they are. Especially when there are small children playing in the streets out in front of the house daily. I see these little shits driving gas-powered choppers which, according to a search I did, can run as high as 45mph. Even the electric ones can hit 20mph which isn't nearly slow enough.

What the fuck is going through their parent's addled brains? "I want to put my small boy on a mini chopper, send him racing through the streets, no helmut, shorts" - fucking idiots.

There's got to be a law against this . . . ?? But is there?

Not a single one was wearing a helmet either.

It will probably take a death or two of by getting hit by a car at 20mph head-on, or a few serious injuries, for the laws to get put on the books.

I *think* they are illegal - at least for kiddies. The parents really don't have a fucking clue. It would be cruel to wish that one of their kids would have that devasting accident, but . . .

Looks like they are considered mopeds if under 50cc and motorcycles if over 50ccs. Not sure about the electric ones, though.

They drive me crazy too because they are so damn loud. Also the parents seem to think they are ok to drive down the neighborhood streets. Fucking morons.

I know what is was in FL and I think it is a pretty standard issue state by state. It is a motorized vehicle and to drive it on a street you have to have a drivers license.

Most places they're not legal for anyone to drive on the street, license or not. Your headlight, for instance, must be a minimum distance from the ground.

If it goes over 35mph, then all motorcycle laws apply... they need a helmet, all lighting, registration, insurance, motorcycle endorsement on thier license, etc. Also applies if its 50cc or over.

Tune to the Speed channel, see if you can catch a rerun of last week's Two Wheel Tuesday, they ran a special and had the Las Vegas police chief voicing his opinion on these things. He pretty much said you must be an idiot to ride it on the street.

That isn't true..

I have been pull over because it's iilegal no matter what in Florida because it can not be registered or have a TAG

Even though some scooters meet the 49 CC laws.

BTW. they can't go 45mph thats a sales gimmik. I bought 5 pocket bikes and go-peds. My fastest one reaches 40mph Thats after putting 500.00 worth of Aftermarket parts

Motor vehicles with engine displacements of < 49cc generally do not require a license to drive, but most jurisdictions have made these "hobby bikes" illegal to operate on city streets.

These things are annoying and KMR they can do over 40-50mph, if its 49cc's it will be capped at around 30cc's with a governer(sp?) in the muffler limiting air flow, Remove that lil son of a bitch and those things will zoom the fuck out..

I hate the shit because i drive a decent sized car and when i back up out of my drive way little kids zoom by on them they dont even look over 5 years old, I swear one of these days someone is going to back over one of them because alot of them ride the electric ones so they are silent and you cant always see a little kid thats only 1 foot off the ground riding by in your rear view mirror.

(I had 2 complaints against me for being to loud)

Two Radar cops came to my house and said that they are iilegal to ride. And they could give me a citation for noise poultion they are just not legal.

I told the Cop look I can walk down the street to the Harley Dealership Buy a Bike and ride up and down the street all day. THAT IS LEGAL. And It's 10x as loud.

Cop said yeah but uhh are you trying to get smart with me?

Hey, do you own one?

I have been building pocket bikes/Go-peds for 7 years now.

Trust me. You can't get it to go 40-50mph on a 49CC engine They have something called CVT it's like unlimited gear ratios. I can take a picture of my tricked out bike that goes 40mph

MODS:

HP WALBRO Carb
Cold Air (K&N intake)
Rocket Key (Advances the timing from fly wheel)
Lighter flywheel
Ported and poshed
HP Exhaust

With all that I push 40 MPH

Yeah, the mopeds are diffren't from pocket bikes.

It's kinda like the diffrence between a 12hp Riding lawnmower and a 5HP Go-Cart
