Server question
One of my servers is MS Server2003
I'm using Plesk for a control panel on it. All is fine, no issues..... BUT I need to be able to ftp into a directory within my scripts directory. Can't for the life of me get to it. Figure it has to be because Plesk is the control panel etc. Any server 2003 gurus around??? I've tried virtual directories, new users etc. Just can't seem to get to it no matter what I try. I used to do this kinda stuff day and night on older servers that didn't have Plesk in use......

You need to connect through SSH or SFTP I think, I am not sure about windows servers though. Contact your server provider or try to connect to your server via SFTP with a SFTP client on port 22.

ftp
are you using windows ftp in this setup and do you have pcanywhere on the box, does your user have full administrator access. you can set your ftp directory, the home one to this folder. pc anwhere would allow you to use pc anywhere to transfer the file. if admin you can change permissions on the folder

It's a dedicated server
I have full access to it I use remote desktop to get to it as needed Plesk to manage it and FTP to upload files as needed no pcanywhere...... I want to backup some dbs that are kept in the scripts folder, but can't get to them via ftp Plesk automatically creates a "cgi-bin" folder as it manages and makes domains, but no links to the generic scripts folder, which is where I need to be able to gain ftp access to. Anything I've tried can't seem to make it show up via ftp no matter what. Virtual directories just don't seem to wanna show up and I'm thinkin' its because of Plesk. If I use remote desktop and make a virtual directory within this "Plesk" created group of folders pointing to that directory within "scripts", it doesn't ahow up via FTP, only via remote desktop. And it sure seems like that would solve this. Gotta be a Plesk thing. I love Plesk on this server, except for this current directory thing ugh

if your ftp wont allow access to cgi-bin dircectly, copy your files to folder that ftp can see.
also, remote desktop allows to access local hdds at remote machine to do this goto RDC options > local recourses > and check "disk drives", then connect and goto windows explorer at your server. the only drawback is it works slower than ftp.

I'm wanting to automate the whole process by doing a nightly backup via ftp only ..... without me needing to manually go there and do a copy file into a folder that might be accessible by way of direct ftp. that's my problem...
