The fact that it took 3 cops to bend the kid over a table und pull her arms up behind her to cuff her means that all 3 of those idiots need to be fired as well. not sure if this is true or not but on the news last night the reporter said that when you enhance the audio of the tape you can hear one of the cops saying to the kid " I told you that next time we would handcuff and arrest you."

If that is true and the cop said that, then obviously this isn't the first time this kid has caused this much trouble. If that is the case both the kid and mother/parents need counseling.

I had an eight year old kid put a brick through my window. When the cops got there they cuffed him and told him they were going to take his bike away to pay for the window. They put a scare in him. Big deal. His parents didn't care when they showed up. I bet this happens all the time, it's just this time a school was involved and it's on videotape.

As the clip is short and edited, I cannot make a determination of character or the underlying situational circumstances; but - kids are not your little angels -they have claws, teeth, trigger-fingers - and they will use them.

I for one consider kicking, biting, wrestling assault, and I feel the blame is being unfairly shifted from the child and her parents to those who were trying to restore order and prevent any further violent outbursts- the teacher and the cops.

the cops handcuff her for one reason. Lawsuits. It's that simple. Say they decide to just grab her and forceably detain her and she flips out and starts flailing around, squirms lose and falls down and cracks her head open. You know her parents are going to sue then. Also, if they just try to wrestle her down and take her out without cuffs and she decides to fight somemore then it looks like excessive force. there is no way for the cops to come out looking good in a situation like this so the best case for them is handcuff her, bring the situation to an end and move on.

Teacher's cannot physically restrain a child except maybe to protect themselves.
Even teacher's who deal with violent or mentally disabled children in special classes have protocols that they have to follow in order to not be brought up on criminal or civil charges and eventually lose their jobs or worse.

This child apparently has issues. It's quite apparent..and this is not just a temper tantrum of a 5 year old. If your 5 year old is having temper tantrums like this then you are a horrible parent for not either stopping the situation or getting the child help.

Should the child be arrested and cuffed? That's a police issue. But I think if handled right this could be something that makes the child stop and think before she acts as if she's in control again.

I hope the mother loses, but I seriously doubt it. I'm sure it will be settled out of court to silence certain sectors of our society...those who live their lives as victims.

I hate to say it but I think this will not help the girl. I say that because the mother is suing and in order to do that she must paint her daughter as a vicitim. So she is already instilling the "i'm a vicitim, the world owes me something" mentality. If she loses ( and I hope she does ) she will probably blame it on race so she will be instilling the kid wit racism as well. I feel for this little kid but I think the school should sue the mother for sending a kid to school that is uncontrolable.

If this little girl had been raised correctly in the first place the cops would never have had to be there to begin with. Police officers can and will do whatever it takes to detain the person no matter WHAT the age. The physical ablitiy to hurt themselves and others is what they will base their decisions on. That little girl was obviously fully capable (and in the correct state of mind) to pick up objects and hurt herself and others.
That's not the real issue here. The real issue is a bad parent after MONEY!!!
Who exactly do you think pays for these lawsuits? They aren't suing for a free counselor or an evaluation for the kid, an apology letter..ect. They want your MONEY!!!
