Someone told me at internext that people call up paycom and ccbill all the time asking for refunds and telling the customer service reps that they're the webmaster of the site and they were just doing a test signup....I was like WTF???

Anyways, make them send you an email from an adult domain they own when requesting the password. That'll stop 90% of the schemers I think.....then write them a pass that's good for 24 hours so they can check things out.

:2 cents:

Thats a good way to do it

That puts you in a dilemma, because opposite;
If a program is not serious enough to offer (invest) $12.47 "then they probably don't make any money on the traffic they recieve". Or do they hide something?
I would feel offended, if someone asked me to pay for their product before I sold it, which is a bad start. It's not about those few dollars, but about establishing partnerships based on trust.

Anyway, I think, and what I heard, is that affiliates asking for passes for promo material, is because of lack of promo (updates) at the program site. If I ran a program where everyone asked for passes, I would seriously start looking at my webmaster section.

To avoid freebies, you can just ask to see some examples of previous work. That is totally ok, and if they are really freebies then ask them to go to some newsgroups or torrent sites instead :winkwink:

I have never been asked by a webmaster for a temp password, but I do know of many who have joined of their own accord before signing up..

I think it is fair to request a look inside, as if you are an affiliate promoting many many sites it would add up considerably...

d00t 04-24-2005 01:41 AM

if you are being paid per signup, why would the webmaster care whats in the affiliate area? its up to the sponsor to make it work from there on in!

I would give out passes on a case by case basis n such. IE: ask em whats sites they run and so on.... do some questioning first.

You are correct, send me a new user/pass and I will start the traffic flowing to make up for it. :)

as a rule we dont give free memberships to anyone.

there have been a couple of exceptions over the years, but very few.

venus 04-24-2005 02:54 AM

Actually, there are to many scammers out there to just give anything away, a few years ago there were allot of people emailing webcam sites asking for passwords so they can do a review on their site.
Its not about hiding anything for me, its about scammers and liars, someone is always wanting something for free and will always feed you the biggest plate of shit to get it.

usual webmaster can buy access to site ....

also if webmaster can send me 5 or more sighn up I can do full access to pick up content for promo.

Dalai lama 04-24-2005 03:18 AM

I do give/gave affiliates access to my sites, but only they sent some sales & traffic. Like you said if they dont want to spend the $3 for access it's not worth it giving it for free.

XPays 04-24-2005 03:20 AM

50

xpays always gives user/pwd's

XPays 04-24-2005 03:21 AM

and then we wait and whack them all and watch the front door go nuts!!!

love that - do it like once every 6 months

Right, I am into the latin tranny midgets with three eyes.

SykkBoy 04-25-2005 12:36 AM

I don't mind giving out short term passwords to potential affiliates or access for affiliates who actually make an effort
what I get tired of is being begged for a password (god forbid, it should take me a few minutes to set it up) and the affiliate doesn't even make an effort...
I'll also not issue a password to someone who hasn't even bothered to signup for the program...
make an effort and I will too..make it worth both our time...

beemk 12-12-2005 12:15 PM

bump, i just asked for a password for my review site im working on and was blown off on icq after i have sent sales and received paychecks from them. from now on i'm cutting off the little bit of traffic i was sending. thanks to a friend for reminding me of this thread.

GTS Mark 12-12-2005 12:24 PM

I think the thing you should remember is that affiliates have so many programs to choose from, the big webmasters do their homework on the programs they send their traffic to. I personally want to know what the inside of the member's area looks like so I don't mislead/fraud my surfers. I want to know if the members area will retain members or after 2 days the member will cancel because there simply is nothing left to look at.

I think it's an absolute necessity to give access to potential affiliates, I would suggest you just make up a 24 hour temporary pass for them so they can come in and check out the members area. But not have lifetime access (unless they send alot of sales).

If I was turned down for access I would honestly just move on to the next program on my list to research.

ProjectNaked 12-12-2005 12:27 PM

I only read half of this - but not giving potential affiliates a free look at the goods is shooting yourself in the foot. If I was looking to pick up 10 new sites to promote, I may go through 100 until I find the 10 I want. I'm not going to buy a membership to 100 sites only have pissed away my money.

Sly 12-12-2005 12:28 PM

If a sponsor wouldn't give me at least temporary access, I would start to wonder why, specifically if its a recurring program. Then I would probably conclude that they don't want or don't deserve my traffic, so I would simply move on to a sponsor who does want my traffic.

Mr.Ocean 12-12-2005 12:47 PM

I've been ready over this thread and.....

I'm new as you know, I'm a partner with the site http://www.holeshotgirls.com
And we are trying to get it into an affiliate program or revshares or we were also thinking of setting up an affiliate program through Ccbill. Well you guys are on the topic of affiliate programs. Whats a guy got to do to get reconized? And whats the Best steps to do to get your site out there?

I know this is considered tricks of the trade, but being a videographer and editor and putting out a shit load of content over the past year for some of the top companies by working under some of the best behind the scenes I want out and into to the bigger picture.

ProjectNaked 12-12-2005 01:02 PM

Mr.Ocean - if you don't know by now: there is no money left in porn :(

(j/k :winkwink: - start by finding someone who is "established" and buying them some drinks...then pick their brain bit by bit for the heavily guarded secrets. If this doesn't work, hire some hot chicks to follow you around and make it look like you know what you're doing :pimp )

asl 12-12-2005 01:48 PM

I usually buy a membership first toosee how it looks like but once a program owner just suspended my webmaster account as I signed up under my own ref :/

So now I always ask for access to member's area first and if they don't want, I buy one with my ref code if they don't mind :pimp
