it's just not loading, as if I'm firewalled from it.. is it possible the host has blocked some asian ip range (e.g. chinese) and maybe NZ got caught in that list?

Well last time checked we weren't a province of China, or particularly close, but when I go into town there do seem to be a lot of Chinese so perhaps we're under assimilation
 ..

my bet is the admin just hit a couple of class A's that seemed to match China..
I'm fairly sure there's some overlap at that level..
