Music on CDs is a dying format. It's not dead yet, but it's dying.
In a few years, CDs will join VHS in the museum of data storage formats.

sounds like you got a deal, but....hmm.. without knowing the name, too many factors to consider. ask yourself how much are sponsors paying out for that traffic? $1k is great price if you've done the research, but I bought tons of names for far less. read: (not my thread) investing in domains ... http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/showth...adid=338092&s= goto: domainsurfer.com, see how many others ppl have similar domains, follow the links, see what they're doing with their traffic. how they monetize... if you like what you see, then jump. but it's your decision to make. remember $1000 = 150+ brand new domains. don't forget I incubate/develop most of my names and match them with partners who acquire or private label the site for me. different tactics. i go for the slow hunt, waiting for the big kill. your $1,000 goes far, just be careful. today i bought on aftermarket SaleBlog.com ($40),ReligionBlog.com($20), BlogAlert.com ($70) and few others for under $50. I need them for my bloghost.com business. for me those were dirt cheap, for others , they couldn't care less. but that's fine, cause they'll go perfect with sexblog.com & pornblog.com ![]() the market is going crazy now... you can see from below: here's what sold recently in aftermarket: (i did not buy these, but bid high on them all, this was before this site offered proxy bidding) INTERIORDESIGNS.COM Private Auction $6800 COMMUNITIES.NET Private Auction 1600 EVENTWEB.COM Private Auction 620 DYNAMO.COM Private Auction 6500 VULTURE.COM Private Auction 3600 LOCALDIRECTORY.COM Private Auction 2200 (good price: DAMN) BLUEDIAMONDS.COM Private Auction 2700 PERSIMMON.COM Private Auction 4200 (good price: DAMN) ROMANCECLUB.COM Private Auction 500 singaporesingles.com Private Auction 40 MARDIGRASNUDE.COM Private Auction 50 BIKINIMODELSEARCH.COM Private Auction 30 FREECELEB.COM Private Auction 390 SEXPISTOLS.COM Private Auction 1500 HENTAISITES.COM Private Auction 220 (good price: DAMN) DEEPSLEEP.COM Private Auction 810 (good price: DAMN) BABYMART.COM Private Auction 650 headgear.com for $5K+ ohz.com for $3k+ prd.com has 1 day left @ $4,500+ refurbished.com has 1 day left and at $9K+ ok... for your $1,000 you could've bought deepsleep.com and flipped it to a mattress company for 5fig, big pharma for 6fig-7fig, bioscience/cryolab for 5fig, etc. and you still would've had money left over for hentaisites.com; look at the price of babymart.com, I would've flipped that to walmart or anywhere.... glad I got out of the game, or at least took a break... ![]() remember to read: investing in domains ... http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/showth...adid=338092&s= i give tips on playing the drop game, domain veins, DEEP mining, etc...looking for stuff the big boys don't want. good luck. email me if you buy the name, click my www for email addy. |

To be honest, I don't think it's worth anymore than $500,000 on the high side.
A great name, but a smart investor will see that cd's are the past. I believe they had interest at around $250k if I'm correct.

Isn't cd a registrated trademark from philips? I remember something about when the music industry tried to build in anti copying techniques Philips said it would not alow those discs to be sold as cd's.

If Compact Discs (CD) become obsolete, cds.com inherits the value of a three letter dot com. While CD.com inherits the value of a two letter dot com. A two letter dot com of this magnitude, with those two quality letters, can reach low six figures regardless of the technology. Three letter dot com ? You're lucky to see mid four figures. Low five figures if you hit a tremendous end-user sale. ![]() |

yes, it's a great name, my point was that they waited too long, plus they seem like they are desperate to sell because they know the CD wave is nearing its end. you can look to itunes and other "music on demand" services for proof. look at the dying record/cd retail stores closing nationwide. CD=VHS. not as bad, but if they wait longer, it will be. even DVD is being replaced in less than 3 years. one of the best 2 letters: ME.com (aside from cnet's tv.com) sold earlier this year when a VC/Incubator dumped it for less than $500k. now that one is amazing. |

they won't. keep in mind, the future is bands putting out regular albums and adding "reality content", commerce, music videos, interviews, concerts, etc. in the same jewelbox. lots of this on market already, when you buy 2disc set, sometimes 2nd disc is DVD with content. That's why CD is dying and DVD is taking over the music industry, just like it did in the Video Game industry. plus the music industry loves how the movie industry has shaped consumers minds that spending $15+ on a DVD is ok. but everything will be moving to "on demand", digital delivery, in the future. plus "affordable" dual-sided DVDs + hardware are right around the corner. |

I think it would be wise for some downloadable music company (pay per song system) to buy it. Of course would be good to sell discs as well. Maybe even burning software, burners, and MP3 players.. Just my thoughts..
KRL or Taboo - Want to buy that for me and I'll develop it? ![]() Matt

Go.com is owned by Disney, GoTo.com was owned by Idealab. when go.com launched and copied goto.com's color scheme (yellow/green) for the logo, idealab sued DISNEY to change colors and for $$$$$, they won and got so much money... but then Bill Gross decides, "I don't even like the name goto anymore", let's call it Overture... and he sold goto.com to go2.com. he made out like a bandit.
