Ocean's 12: Prepared to yawn, but instead dazzled

Lots wrong with this sequel, but in the hands of a filmmaker so interesting, jazzy and technically proficient, you just sit back and enjoy the ride.

I can't believe how good Soderbergh is. The breakdancing laser security sequence must have taken two weeks to shoot it was so complicated.

The shots of Rome and Lake Como are worth the rental fee.

And Bruce Willis' cameo was great.

Usually I can't stand her, and she's definitely a dud in this one.

She's GREAT in Closer though, because she's not spraying the theatre with her 26 inch grin the way she does in most roles. Playing a cheater looks good on her.

Piece of shameless gossip here: My g/f is Kiefer Sutherland's brothers' ex, and she tells me that Julia had her assistant call Kiefer and tell him the wedding was off instead of doing it herself. Nice.

it was ok for me. it wasn't as good as the first one. i thought it was pretty lame when Julia Roberts pretended to be Julia Roberts.

Saw it on the plane last week. The breakdancing scene was very cool.

just saw it last night myself. although not as good as 11 (which i still can't get enough of), it had it's moments. the breakdance scene was great, but not as complicated as you may think. i'm sure they added the lasers after the dance. the beat was SICK though!

only real low point in the movie was the "julia roberts" crap. they coulda left that out....

Boring and horrible movie. Waste of actors and production budget.

Oceans 12 totally sucked, thank God we only wasted 14 bucks watching it in Phoenix at the hotel, since if I'd paid 25 for it at Tower I'd have been pissed.

Oddly enough, we just watched Closer this week as well -- almost by accident -- and that's a MOVIE>

Not that bad but certainly not good. Too much hinting back at the first part and too cool and pretentious. The part where Julia Roberts played Julia Roberts was simply retarded.
Also the part where the lifted the house in Amsterdam was waaayyy too much.

2 stars out of 5.

Yes, the Julia Roberts thing was ridiculous, yes, there was barely a script, and yes, the improbabilities outweighed any sense of dramatic license, but technically, the movie was so well shot and exectuted that you kind of thought "Hey, it sucks, but it's damned fun to watch".
