Well time to share the wealth, It's fucking Thursday and I always spend Thursday figuring out what to do the following week. Well I have something that serious increased income lately and I share it with all. and we can all start next week figuring out our traffic to maximize our incomes.

I used to think I knew my site traffic being that my site is 99% search engine traffic to a specific keyword. Lately its becoming tougher and tougher upselling them, until i figured out that keyword was bland and obvious and really wasnt exactly what they cared about, was just a starting point for them. Meanwhile I built the whole site to sell that particular keyword, it threw the surfers for a loop, because although it was direct to what they searched for it wasnt really what they exactly wanted. Just a bunch of relative stuff they fumble thru...

I decided to play with my web site front page, and this has taught me oh so fucking much.... I never liked playing with my site front page before because
of course I hate to lose top positioning as its the "MONEY PAGE", but I have new mentality now, search engine traffic is nothing if you are not converting it, which I was not, so who fucking cares if you lose some of it in attempts to find the right solution for your surfers. I began to fiddle with it...

Wanting to figure out more about my surfers the questions arose...
How can you figure out what your surfers really want? Do I plaster a bunch of different banner ads that definately kill your ranking and are huge traffic leaks? Do I put up a full page ad for a month and see how it does? Shit, might take 2 years to figure this one out waiting to see results...

I did the above and tried sponsor after sponsor with horrible results, new sites, new niches, sites with different billings, free signups, you name it...
time passed and nothing gained cept a bad attitude towards a lot of sponsors..

While eventually I would have probably found an upsell that worked, this could take far too long and lot of money lost in the proccess and a bad attitude towards a lot of sponsors that not converting when really not their fault.

So I devised a plan to take some space off my front page used specically
for figuring out what the surfers were really looking for, to my surprise,
I was totally clueless on what they really wanted, But boy did I find out fast.

Here's simply what I did, I been working in the webcam niche alot lately.
and I had alot of thumbs of different girls and I took these thumbs and categorized them in every way possible, I did this for 2 reasons. I was making a script to sell that was basically for webmasters to easily add new content to their sites... I am creating a new POTD script (to be released soon see below)

It's called thumbs of the day (TOTD), basically an enhancement of the picture of the day scripts out there but this puts customized html (kinda like google ads) inserted into any page you wanted however you want to display them and as many thumbs as you want, you can link these thumbs to html pages or bigger pictures themselves so its like a mini TGP almost in the same space of
a banner ad. Now I built many categories for these to track clicks thru, for the thumbs, from the basic teen, mature, group sex, anal, asian, etc etc categories to even more "sub" defined teen coeds, mature goth, etc etc.

Wow, did this blow my mind when I ran it for just one day, I seen that
a teen girl in a tartan skirt was clicked 3920 times and there was
6000 uniques to that page that day. (This picture wasnt even that good and the girl was pretty ugly hehe) The other pic I had the next day was
a real cute busty teen pic clicked 4800 times outta 6200 uniques. WOW!!!!

Holy shit all this time they wanted teens but even more so BUSTY teens, This was something I would never have figured out they wanted based on the keywords they were entering to get to my site, I found a busty teen sponsor Pixie Pillows which is run under BadGirlBucks.com I believe.... I slapped up an ad and bingo all of a sudden my site was converting at 1:300 from 1:5000
Just like the good ole days!

So what we have learned here is how we can take a little space off our front page to learn our traffic and what they want!

Now somehow outta nowhere we have developed a complete system in that not only provides easy and great content space for web pages, webmasters can use it to help understand their own traffic flow and maximize upsells.

The content thumbs of the day tool is still being developed if anyone is interested in it, when i wrap up the security and administration backends. I really look forward to providing this to my fellow webmasters... One simple old tactic upgraded and proven invaluable to us!

for those that may be interested in this content tool, was wondering what would be better, its written in perl and should I make it flat file type system to be more
usable on all platforms, or should I go with the easy MySQL distribution that
would lose some portability for alot of peeps but be much faster, far easier to maintain and use as end users?
