Damn Mike, what'd ya get yourself into over there? Hope everything works out for the best... and as for giving them an earful, I'm sure that is correct. He has no problem talking your ear off

Yeah I enjoy talking to him, he always has something valueable to say.
LOL, I would have loved to but I can't do international flights. Anything over 4 hours and I get very restless.

OK someone here is a master of thread titling. I am not a criminal or wanted by any authority in Prague.
For those of you who don't know - the hotel was a "five star" hotel - but it was a hole. The staff sucked, the building sucked, the elevators sucked, the rooms sucked, and the location sucked. It was also REALLY expensive. But the food was REALLY GOOD. Anyway...
I was hanging with Meat and had my Ecko jacket on a chair 10 feet from me. They closed the bar and the place was EMPTY except for four guests - me, Meat, and two other people who were friends of mine in another partitioned part of the bar area. And there were a pile of bartenders and cleaning people cleaning up. I looked up and saw my badass jacket was gone and I was more than a little upset - since none of the four of us had it. I was convinced someone at the hotel took it and walked or locked it up where I could not get it. It was obviously far more likely that they took it and locked it up because the front desk did not have it. The hotel staff refused to go look for it, quite possibly because many are lazy communist leftovers who are overpaid to do nothing. I was amazed that they just didn't care at all.
For those that know me, I don't take any guff from hotels. The guy behind the front desk and the security guard were just sitting around being lazy and would not even ask the non-english speaking cleaning crew if they saw it. I was so pissed off at the hotel staff that I figured I would have to step it up and file a police report. Either that or I knew that I needed one to file a card claim. I think it was a little of both - and I was surprised how the front desk guy still didn't care what was going on.
There was ONE officer at the police headquarters - which was the building across the street from the hotel - who spoke English. They use typewriters. It took a while. It sucked. They didn't even have English translations of the documents and told me they would mail me one in 60 days. They were nice though.
Anyway, it was reasonably cold in Prague and I was pissed all weekend.
And get this - Meatman from netpondcash was the hero of the day! He tracked down the perp and caught him. I don't know exactly what events transpired but he did tell me that a Brit took it, and eventually - after Sleazy took pics of a bunch of people wearing it - I got it back and wore it home.
So there you go - no jail, no trouble, and not too much drama. Prague was reasonably good - but REALLY expensive. I'd go back, unlike certain other countries that begin with M and end in exico.
I had some problem with the Czech police as well btw...
was driving back home, and after about 45 minutes, there were 3 police cars and a bunch of policemen on the side of the road, randomly pulling over cars (tourists), and ofcourse, I got pulled over.
They told me I needed some kind of license to drive on Czech highways, I didn't have a thing like that ofcourse. The penalty fee was 15000 krones (about 600$), but he told me if I'd pay him 1000 krones he would let me go.
I told him I didn't have any krones anymore, only euro's, but he wouldn't accept them. He told me to drive further, go left, into a city, to a bank to get 1000 krones, and then drive back and give it to him. I told him I could also get that 'license' in that city, and just drive a long, but he absolutely didn't want me to do it..
He was obviously bullshitting me, and instead of going left, I just drove straight ahead, and about 30 minutes later I was driving in Germany, safely

That's way too much work for a jacket.. but I have to agree with you on never going to Mexico. I like to wear my intestines on the the inside of my body not the outside.

Prague was expensive? You are joking - You were simply ripped off at every chance -
I currently live in Poland - I have dealt with the shit these prats give you, hence my (always) diatribe of my early dealings with the scumbag owner of sunnydollars - People like these only know how to smile and rip you at every chance they get - Krysztof Slawynski couldn't even afford to pay for the very first domain we bought together - He had to borrow from me - Then when things were moving nicely, he fucked off with everything - Even hacked my ccbill stats and cancelled out hundreds of recurring memberships. -
And yes - Ex commie country hotel five stars is usually equal to a zero star hotel anywhere else.
But at least you have an experience you can remember for the rest of your life!

Is there going to be a pictorial ala "The Traveling Gnome" of all the places your jacket visited?
