My laptop power cord just melted and smoked...then died

it was fucked up from being jerked a lot...when i walked by it caught on my leg a few times....so, i always had to prop it up for it to supply power

but I guess this last jerk was too much, it started smoking and the rubber around it started melting...and now it is dead

i have 57 minutes left til no laptop for 2 days

FUCK...ALL of my work in on here

wish I had pics of me freaking out when I saw the smoke

i instantly popped the battery out and shut that fucker down in less than 3 seconds

as for wasting time, everything is transferring over the network now to my desktop...hopefully it will get it all

had the same thing happen to me last week on my other laptop... the plug melted into the back of the computer, had to pry it out of there and until i have some money i gotta use an old POS laptop...oh well....

how many time have you tripped over your laptop cord? I have about 20 times, and as with any power cord for anything that electrical, it will eventually do some damage to the power cord....what is basically did after looking at it closely, was rip the cord out of the little barrell plug just enough to expose the hot wire to the groud wire and cause a meltdown

my laptop is 2.8ghz with 1gb ram and 80gb hard drive...I edit video on it, do coding on it..and do some serious graphics work on it

I have dual external 200gb drives so nothing gets stored on it...plus i have my desktop in my office which is networked and also has dual 200gb drives

I would much rather be sitting on the couch or on the back porch table relaxing with my laptop than sitting in my office all day...and while my office is damn nice, i am much more comfortable on the couch
