You asked an honest question and i will give you a straight answer. Yes I think people will advertise your site for $25 a trial join, but I don't understand why they would when other sites pay much much more ? Just seems like common sense someoen would want to start with the company that pays the most, if they don't make good money with them, then move to the next highest on the list. Why start at the bottom and work your way up.. but don't sweat it. people will still join, they would for $20 a trail join :upsidedow

With a clean design and a $1 trial for anal movies I'm not surprized you are getting good signups. But I would be surprized if your conversions to full $38.77 a month memberships are going to be anywhere near as exciting. And if you don't make a trial-to-full conversion ratio of near 60% you are going to be depending on your consoles, upsells, etc., just to break even on your gross. Nor with hardcore movies would I figure on a particularly good retention ratio...

What you can figure on with the deal you are suggesting (and assuming you promote your program well enough), is plenty of traffic: including a bunch from the people with a solid base of sign-and-cancel surfers. Maybe you can deal with all of that if you know enough about working consoles, cancellations, upsells, etc. Still, each tweak you have to make to accomodate your committments to affiliates, is going to make your site less attractive to its customers. It's a downward spiral producing diminishing returns and Version# of your program shouldn't be long coming. If you don't run out of money first.

I know a site like yours needs volume and if you are going to rely on affiliates, you have to compete for them on the open market. But at least in terms of published payment rates, affiliates are seriously over-valued and that sticks you with high prices to your customers and all the other tricks you need to try to balance the books. In your place I would be looking at other ways to generate my initial traffic and sales.

Yes, $25 for a trial, but the trial will change to $3-$4.

Our 1 in 300 is based off of trials mostly.

The more you change your pricing and structure, the more you give off the impression that you have absolutely no idea what you're doing.

I don't think anyone is getting that impression, but if they are, keep in mind we are in the Beta stage. We didn't call it a Beta just to be cute, but because we are testing things out to see what works and what does not. Our ratios are awsome, now we judt need to find a payout model that will satisfy both us and our webmasters.

Our webmasters told us they love their conversions, but want something better than the $35 per active that we are paying. We listened, and are going to change our payout model.

If anything, I would think most webmasters would be impressed by the fact that we are willing to listen to our webmasters and meet their needs and change, experiment and adapt to changing market conditions.

earnings per click is what matters at the end. I don't take payout structure as main factor when picking sponsors. Don't forget the bigplayers $50 fiasco.

I would agree with your overall assesment, but I was just having this conversation with Soul Rebel a couple of days ago and I don't think there is any programs that are doing 60% trial to full ratio nowadays. 30% is probably the average right now for a program of a decent size.

Maybe there are single girl sites that are doing that in a program, but a program as a whole, no way. Those days are long gone, , so you almost have to supplement your revenue with upsales and consoles and such if you are going to pay per trial.

Soul, don't forgot to mention that you can actually smell the ass on the cock from the videos! It is a new feature that we have implemented that is a real hit!

that's because your traffic matches the paysite. PPS sponsors work on average overall numbers. You are a rare exception in an ocean of untargetted, low quality traffic :)

Yeah, I know who you are talking about, but I don't think their overall trial to full is 50%, maybe just for you. But if they are doing 50% average for the entire program, they are definitley the exception.

In 1998 there would be alot of programs doing 50%, but right now, I can't see more than 1 or 2 doing 50%, if any.

Anyway, not looking to stir shit or anything, as I'm not even an affiliate, but I figured I'd throw in my 2c as a webmaster.

Yes, the ones with their heads on straight will consider promoting you at any payout rate and will at least give you a shot, trying to assess how much they can make per hit sent to you. At the same time this whole "we're in beta, we're still adjusting, we're making changes to the payout structure" does wear an air of I-have-no-fucking-clue-what-the-fuck-I'm-doing. No offense, but I think you're the first sponsor I've ever heard of offering a public beta period. Maybe I don't hang out enough around here, but I've never heard of anyone else do that before. More specifically, sponsors have a tendency to get in select people to beta test their new sites. In this case it looks to me like you're not only beta testing your new site, but also your new program altogether. I know every sponsor has growing pains of some kind, but at least they try to keep them away from the public as much as possible. I applaud the intent of (some) transparency, but as much as you try advocating for it, it doesn't change the fact that it makes you look clueless.

Personally, if I were in your shoes, I'd only offer an invite-only option to promote it to begin with, but then again I'm not you and I have a totally different background. As for hosted galleries, you have no idea how much a couple of dozen of morons with 100K/day sites and no marketing skills whatsoever will cost you. Something you might wanna think about.

It's great to brag you have people who convert 1:2 but if they are only sending 2 hits that should be disclosed as well. I can convert 1:2 on any program it's easy. I can either signup to it myself or have friends signup, or i can make you click through 10 pages before you make it to the signup page. Send 10000 people to page1 that says" click here if you pay for porn" page 2: " click here if you have a credit card " page 3 " click here if you card is not over the limit" page 4 " do you have your card in hand" etc....

Now if you are sending 5000 hits and have 2500 signups thats something to brag about espesically if they are first or second page joins.
