The most amaizing thing is that I NEVER opened any account on EBay!!

amazing peolple are getting away with this shit. The worst part is when someone falls for it, not only is it a pain in the ass to contact ebay, paypal, bank accts, etc... but they stop trusting the web as a safe place to shop.

I get them on a regular basis too... have to admit the very first time I was a little tempted to think it might be real since I did have an account and it coincidently worded something in the e-mail that seemed to refer to something genuine that had happened.

I didn't fall for it, but I think calling people stupid is pretty easy when phishing has been so widely publicized now... besides if a scam was so stupid it probably wouldn't work so well and continue to happen so often.

As far as what companies are used as lures, you can hardly blame them for being exploited by dishonest people. The more reliable and trustworthy a brandname is the more likely it's going to convince otherwise intelligent people to give over private information. The phishing sites tell you that to access your account you have to sign in, signing in is what normally proves you're who you are, not proves the company asking for the sign in information is who it claims to be. Think of how many times you've slipped you're bank card into an unknown ATM, what's to stop someone from setting up a fake one somewhere and recording your information? And I bet someone who fell for that wouldn't be called stupid.
