I'm sitting in Ohare the other day between planes, and I'm in no mood.
This women, around 20 or so, straight from Kansas or sumthin', is sitting a few rows down from me, and I swear the entire airport can hear every useless and insipid thing travelling up from her larynx and into her voicebox.
Isn't it interesting that such a complicated and synchronous thing as speech is wasted on people who say nothing, over and over.
Cell phones are making savages out of all of us, I swear.
Well, time goes by, and eventually I start to stare this idiot woman down. I refuse to move, as others are doing, serially, marching away like sheep.
Fuck that.
She ignores me.
I just keep on staring at her, and every 30 seconds or so she looks over awkwardly to see if I'm still staring.
I'm oddly fascinated that anyone is so self-centred that their cell conversation manages to drown out literally every other sound in this noisy airport lounge.
What the fuck is wrong with people? Where do these people come from?
Finally, some guy, god bless him, has to leave, and as he gets up, takes a long swivel, and then says this:
"You litte bitch, right now your parents are embarassed that they had you."
With this, he caught his plane.
My girl and I high-fived each other.
