anyone know how to back up a mysql database via shell?

The other option is to run it with replication

when you do -p it prompts you for a pass

to many commands to remember. plus i've never done a manual backup usually do it through phpmyadmin but now i know

why dont you just download the mysql administrator for your windows machine
