to understand when kilmer shines in roles you have to understand how he does his job. when he played doc, john holmes, the saint, morrison...batman... he literly watches hundreds to thousands of hours of video on these characters -- to build his own. in the movies he did not shine, is where there were no historic figures or clear drawings of what he was to portray. he ends up muddling his way through it and is a big disappointment. |

Oooh, I love Tombstone! Gotta agree, out of all of the roles that I've seen Val Kilmer in, this is by far his best. I didn't particularly care for Wonderland or The Doors - or his roles in them. But, to each his own. :winkwink:
Just a few of my favorite Val Kilmer/Doc Holiday quotes from Tombstone: 1. Doc (To Kate): You're not wearing a bustle. How lewd! 2. Wyatt: But who was the devil? Morgan: It's that woman from the coach! Wyatt: Well I'll be damned. Doc: You may indeed. If you get lucky. 3. Cowboy: Hey, is that "Old Dog Tray"? Sounds like "Old Dog Tray". Doc: What? Cowyboy: You know, Stephen Foster. Oh, Susanna. "Camptown Races", Stephen-stinkin'-Foster! Doc: I see, well this happens to be a nocturne. Cowboy: A which? Doc: You know, Frederic-fucking-Chopin. :1orglaugh |

Great list though, The Salton Sea was a great movie. Surprised anyones seen it. But indeed, Tombstone, without a doubt is his best. Too many catch phrases. |
Tough call between that role and the Jim Morrison role. Both were done very well. In the Doors he was quite convincing as Jim though. On that note, I need to watch both movies again. :)

I thought it was great. The drug dealer character was awesome. Should have received an oscar for that role. Sizemore was also good. He played the same role he always plays, but he played it well. |
