Quit after 14 years with nicotine gum and nicotine patches. It does work.
The patches work well for the getting over the first week. The patches are strange...rapid heartbeat and very vivid dreams. The nicotine gum works well whenever you have cravings.
Warning:
It took me year to quit the nicotine gum.....at $50 a pack, no bueno.

Use the generic brands. Only the cool kids quit smoking.

Has anyone ever tried zyban to quit smoking?

loverboy 04-11-2005 09:07 AM

its a hard habit to crack, goodluck

get the patch to help with the nicotine cravings, you wont need it for a month or anything but a week or two for sure, That way you only have to deal with the mental addiction and not the physical. Trust me its worth the money!

Same here man, I've been hitting the gym daily in an effort to stop. I have cut back a lot, but now I just like working out for the hell out it. I find the more physical activity I do the less I smoke. I've been playing a lot more hocky and running a lot too. That way I feel bad when I smoke, because I'm trying so hard to get inshape.

Babagirls 04-11-2005 10:48 AM

thanks for the advice everyone!! :)

its been about 14 hours since my last smoke. im feeling really tired and dizzy, oddly enough. :Oh crap

the hardest part is not knowing if quiting cold-turkey works or not, everyone is tellin me to cut it down to like 2 smokes a day cuz cold turkey never works.

Oh, and i quit today cuz i thought my boyfriend was working (so i'd have about 12 hours without him annoying me), well, his boss called and said he didnt have to :( and hes gettin on my damn nerves.

arghhhhhhhh, this sucks.

Kicker 04-11-2005 01:07 PM

congrats dude!!!

Using the patch makes quitting so easy. If you have any troubles or feel like it's too much dealing with the cravings. Just get the patch. Plus the dreams on it are fucking insane :)

Quitting cold turkey is perfectly fine. I've done it twice, once without the patch and/or gum & once using them both. I encourage using the patch since it seems your not having a good time with the not smoking. It's expensive, but well worth it. I don't even have cravings or think about smoking at all these days. :thumbsup
