People over 35 should be dead.

People over 35 should be dead.

Here's why ............

According to today's regulators

and bureaucrats, those of us

who were kids in the 40's,

50's, 60's, or even maybe

the early 70's probably

shouldn't have survived.

Our baby cribs were covered

with bright colored lead-based

paint.

We had no childproof lids

on medicine bottles, doors

or cabinets, ... and when we

rode our bikes, we had no

helmets.

(Not to mention the risks

we took hitchhiking.)

As children, we would ride

in cars with no seatbelts

or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pickup

truck on a warm day was

always a special treat.

We drank water from the

garden hose and not from

a bottle.

Horrors!

We ate cupcakes, bread and

butter, and drank soda pop

with sugar in it, but we were

never overweight because

we were always outside

playing.

We shared one soft drink

with four friends, from one

bottle, and no one actually

died from this.

We would spend hours building

our go-carts out of scraps

and then rode down the hill,

only to find out we forgot

the brakes.

After running into the bushes

a few times, we learned to

solve the problem.

We would leave home in the

morning and play all day,

as long as we were back

when the street lights

came on.

No one was able to

reach us all day.

NO CELL PHONES!!!!!

Unthinkable!

We did not have Playstations,

Nintendo 64, X-Boxes, no

video games at all, no 99

channels on cable, video

tape movies, surround

sound, personal cell phones,

personal computers, or Internet

chat rooms.

We had friends!

We went outside and found

them.

We played dodge ball, and

sometimes, the ball would

really hurt.

We fell out of trees, got

cut and broke bones and

teeth, and there were no

lawsuits from these accidents.

They were accidents.

No one was to blame but us.

Remember accidents?

We had fights and punched

each other and got black

and blue and learned to get

over it.

We made up games with

sticks and tennis balls and

ate worms, and although we

were told it would happen,

we did not put out very many

eyes, nor did the worms

live inside us forever.

We rode bikes or walked to

a friend's home and knocked

on the door, or rang the

bell or just walked in and

talked to them.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team.

Those who didn't had to

learn to deal with disappointment.

Some students weren't as

smart as others, so they

failed a grade and were

held back to repeat the

same grade.

Horrors!

Tests were not adjusted

for any reason.

Our actions were our own.

Consequences were expected.

The idea of a parent bailing

us out if we broke a law

was unheard of.

They actually sided

with the law.

Imagine that!

This generation has produced

some of the best risk-takers

and problem solvers and

inventors, ever.

The past 50 years have

been an explosion of

innovation and new

ideas.

We had freedom, failure,

success and responsibility,

and we learned how to deal

with it all.

And you're one of them!

Congratulations!

Please pass this on to others

who have had the luck to grow

up as kids, before lawyers

and government regulated our

lives, for our own good !!!!!

People under 30 are WIMPS !

The part about the lead based paint and such could be a factor in all the alzheimer's seen these days.

I always get a kick out of stuff like that.

One thing came to mind though...this means that those of us who grew up in the good ol' days are the ones that created all of the modern things for kids which you bemoan, and our generation grew up to become the lawyers, and are the ones who elected (or are) the government that you see as the root of the problem.

Oh yes, and we are the ones that had and raised today's under 30 wimps.

Anyway, still good for a chuckle.

I think the same thing all the time. Oh, and that the ride in the car without seat belts was also full of tobacco smoke with the windows rolled UP.

All of that is so very true. One of the highlights of my childhood was the time we built this fort out in the woods. That thing was an injury a day waiting to happen lol... best one was the time we made arrows from whittled up sticks and this one kid got nailed in the leg with one of them -- went almost thru his calf.

His dad was a baseball coach at the high school and someone had to go get him to come and get his kid out of the woods, since the kid obviously couldn't walk.

Then there was the time I got grounded for week for making my best friends shithead cousin eat mudpies with rocks in them ;)

When I saw what this was about I expected the rest of the thread to be timeline pics. Either I'm the only one who's gotten this in his email 50 times or you're getting a lot of respect, Tony!

(Which reminds me, I need to work on that timeline pic I've been planning to make).

well it is true that lifespans are getting longer, so all this regulation etc. for better or worse is ensuring that those "under 30" will live longer than we will. Discuss among yourselves if that's a good thing or bad

If people over 35 should be dead, then I wouldn't have a love life, being the girl who has a special niche in her heart for men old enough or almost old enough to be my dad.

Yes, the over 35 generation (especially of men) really rawks my world.

LMAO-looks like I wasn't the only little mischievous girl running around. Reminds of the time me and my friend were pissed at her older brother and offered to go to McDonalds for him, only to unwrap his cheeseburger, spit in it and add some Alpo to it, and rewrap it, and nearly piss ourselves watching him bite into it. The things that amused us back then....

funny.. because it's true. Don't forget about how strong our immune systems are now thanks to no anti-bacterial anything when I grew up. My mom would defrost chicken on a plate all day, then cook it, then put it back on the same god damn plate and bring it to the table that way... NEVER ONCE GOT SICK!
