Affiliate Check Fraud is Awsome.

3 days in beta and I already have an affiliate going to town on us. 11 signups, all check signups, all the emails the signups were made with are bouncing, all the people are in the U.S., but the IP's are mostly foreign ISP's, and the best part: All the signups show "Bookmark" as referal links.

If your going to try and defraud us, at least put some effort into it and get your stuff together. Don't make it so easy.

Well, we were going to have to open it up at some point, so I figured why not open it up from the very begining. We already had a private beta with internal traffic that started a couple of months back, but we would have to deal with the fraud issue at some point anyways, so why not get it out of the way during the beta.

Of course what the crooked webmasters may not realize is that we go through every single active account that is sending signups with a fine tooth combe, so it won't be easy for them. This first guy though is very green looks like.

I've thought about doing that and I've seen other program owners mention it before, but no one has really done it. A black list database for sponsor programs only that could flag fraudulant webmasters would be great.

The benefit of such a database to honest hardworking webmasters would be that in the long run, less fraud equals higher payouts, more perks and put a dent in the crooked webmasters dealings.

It is always a few people who ruin it for the rest.

For e-check transactions, why not have something that will callback their number automatically, and they have to enter some "confirmation" code, its not an end all solution but it will help a bit..

Thanks. I don't think we will have a hard of a time with the webmaster check fraud at all. Our payment cycle is delayed by 2 weeks, and it takes checks 1 week to clear, so I don't see it as a problem from the webmaster side of things as long as we stay on top of it.
