How come 2 different results for a ping ???

I changed some name servers yesterday.

I ping ( in dos command ) thesiteinquestion.com.

One my laptop and 2nd work station, I get one result:

222.222.222.222

On my workstation, I get a different result:

333.333.333.333

With DNScheck and dslreport, I get 222.222.222.222

How can one pc give you a different IP ????

Hmmm, I don't know to much about this stuff. But I did have problems with my ISP giving me different IP numbers when I pinged through them, when I went to an outside source the IP ping worked right. Just a thought....

333.333.333.333

So is it an IP, or a ping?

juat an example... you would prefer 255.255.255.255 ....

And it is a dedicated box, not my ISP .

I should have know better than post a " business" or " technical" thread here....

Next thread: I've got green stuff coming out of my nipples... Should I eat it...
That will bring more attention.

hey directfiesta ... when changing your DNS records you should sometimes wait for an X replication period so your changes make visible ... This basically means that some DNS have cached your previous IP and you have to wait for them to query again their entries so you can see visible your changes ... Some DNSs renew their cache one per day :p ... Well, i think this should answer your question, if this is what is going on ( I surely think its this! ), just check your domain IP again tomorrow and you surely wont have the problem again ... Good luck man ... if i can help you in anything just let me know, bye bye

Now it is OK. But I was using 3 computers on the same ISP ( sympatico) to check a url hosted on one of my dedicated boxes than is in NY.

Anyway, sometimes it is better no to try to understand ...
