    What was your job prior to being a webmaster/webmistress?

    Anyone mind sharing what they did before they went full time into being a webmaster/webmistress? As for me, I worked with a friend of mine putting up vinyl siding, patios and gutters!

      I crushed heads of lettuce against a steel table, pulled the core out and threw it on a conveyor belt to be shredded. 11 hours a day. Minimum wage. That was a sweet job.

                  Health care worker in the ER of the second largest hospital in the city. In fact, that's HOW I got my start towards webmastering... I injured my back while lifting a drug-overdose patient onto a stretcher back in July of '97, and couldn't continue working there.                                                                                                   I studied pure and aplied sciences for 3 years at College Boid-De-Boulogne (First year, I was in the chemestry/biology, but I quickly realised I should take the engineering path, hence the two more years), Then did 1 year of logic math (circuitrie and semi-conductor applications), and now I'm in computer science engineering at Concordia University.

                                                                                                  I should note that I am not full time anymore since my daily occupations are taking alot of my time, time will tell if I made the right decision, but I still have 1 foot there just in case

                                                                                                                                  I guess I could have been a bit more elaborate about what I've done. Working backwards here, I've been a unit assistant on such wards as CVT (open heart surgery), cardiac medicine, geriatric medicine, and intensive care surgery. Before that I was a security guard, and during all that time I was also a professional painter on the side, and I ran a fairly successful marketing business out of my home. Before all that I took a year of college (Industrial electronics, back in 1984) and just before that I was a hotel van-driver & porter (I drove the wrestlers to the arena once a month, I know Jesse the Body, Hulk Hogan and all the boys pretty good, also the Detroit Redwings whom where all very good tippers). I was also a bouncer/doorman, bartender, and beer vendor salesperson. Before that (we're back to about '81 here) I was a fitness instructor at a gym for 2 years.

                                                                                                                                  Again, all that is only in a nutshell really. During my hospital years all through the 90's I also did concert security at large outdoor rock fests and country fests. Pretty fun pulling bodies off the top of the crowd down in front for 10 hours a day. Got some gooood stories from those days. Life's been interesting, no question.

                                                                                                                                              Prior to becoming a full time webmaster, I was a 50% partner in a Restaurant/Nightclub.
                                                                                                                                              (My partner was one of these assholes who liked collecting the money, but was too fucking tight to spend anything on advertising, so I sold my share).

                                                                                                                                              Prior to that, I was a 50% partner of a mid-sized landscaping business, with 7 figure revenues yearly ...(you'd think after ONE 50% partnership I would have learned )

                                                                                                                                              Going back one more occupational hazzard, I was a DJ on an FM rock radio station.

                                                                                                                                              I began my adult(as in not student) employment as one of "Metro's Finest" ... I graduated the academy in January of '90 ... was hired on by Metro in May '90 ... took a bullet in the shoulder at Lotherton Parkway (code-named 'The Village' and as notorious as REGENT PARK)in November of 93, THE DAY BEFORE MY 25th BIRTHDAY ... healed and went back to active street duties, but soon realized that my life was worth more than $33K a year and full dental

I was the Department Manager Of Electronics. It wasn't too bad working up there. Running electronics was really fun. I liked dealing with the other associates. The managers on the other hand, didn't know what the fuck they were doing half the time.

                                                                                                                                                                                              before I graduated I had these boring jobs,

                                                                                                                                                                                              bbs sysop,
                                                                                                                                                                                              chemical company bbs sysop,
                                                                                                                                                                                              retirement home waiter,
                                                                                                                                                                                              sears gift engraver / key cutter,
                                                                                                                                                                                              ibm os/2 intern,
                                                                                                                                                                                              uf library computer security,
                                                                                                                                                                                              orthotics/prosthetics search engine hacker,
                                                                                                                                                                                              isp bitch,

                                                                                                                                                                                              only the IBM job was full time...

                                                                                                                                                                                              after my sites are more steady I will probably work more on my paintings and I'll probably write a science fiction novel someday that will blow your mind.
