How many shows has he had that everyone talked about and seemed like such a big deal and then they got canceled in the 5th season? Hmmm. All of them? How many stupid shows can you make about lunatics with quirky inidividual traits and then to make the show worse add a bunch of shitty ex-famous people too soon for some extra attention and an extra short life span.

Boston Legal already added candice bergen and heather locklear. Heather is the ultimate insult to any good show. I made the post when I found out she got added. I watch it. Not for long though. It will be his 6th show in a row to be exactly like I described above.


Yes L.A. Law was the exception but Corbin Bernsen owns us all.

The way the biz works now, a series that can run five series can command big bucks in syndication, and that's where the BIG money is for most of them.

well, i loved Ally McBeal... until he cast James Marsden and Bon Jovi. everything sucked after that.

100 episodes means syndication... and with the number of local and cable channels out there, almost any decent show with 100 hour long episodes will make it and turn some seriously good coin.

Almost all hour long drama type shows suffer greatly starting around season 3 or 4... look at shows like The West Wing or NYPD blue, both of which had to make major changes, character additions and removals, and such to try to keep the shows fresh. Not every show can be a Law and Order, running 12+ years without an issue, even with no original cast members remaining.

As a side note, the last original principle cast member (Dr Carter) from the show ER is leaving at the end of this year, after 12 years. That they have managed to keep this soap opera cum drama show running this long is testimony to "changes".

weena, Ally McBeal was the ultimate "can't keep this up". The reasons so many people enjoyed Ally was because her relationships were disfunctional and short lived. When she moved into more solid relationships, the fun factor dropped. The other half being that no matter how goofy you are, you have to keep topping yourself with more goofy... and I think they overdid it and burned it all off in a couple of years.

I read the 3rd & 4th paragraph first and I was soo going to gank your ass on LAw and Order but I see you covered it lol.

I still think David E. Kelly sucks massive shlong and most of what you say in response is that his lame methods are good for almost certainly meeting the minimum for syndication and making a lot of money. I don't watch shows to help peopel make money. I watch them if they are good and Boston Legal will suck a lot of dick with Heather Locklear on it.
