Why mobile porn will be big.

New phones can now play (even record) video. These are not just 3g phones but also 2g phones.

Music has become big (rigtones) on mobiles.

Photographs on phones suck, mainly due to the size, but vidio does work, mainly as the sound is very good. Vidio on phones also is not bad quality.

The question is length of file. An MMS text is about 11 seconds, but phones now come with media cards, that can easily store 32mb. The advantage of phone file files is that they are small. Thus you can store tons on a site and not worry about bandwidth.

So the big question is really film length. After all, no one wants to just watch 2 sc film clip. But a file of 1 min or longer may take a bit to download.

Another reason why porn to phones may work, is that you do not need a credit or debit card. Just type in a phone number and its billed to your phone.

But........

But like porn on the web, such film clips may soon become free. Free because many DVD producers will simply give out 10 secs free clips of there latest porn films. So the danger is, will people pay for it, if they get it free.

Hey simple great site. But if its sign up and eat all you can (with you footing the bill for every WAP push) how do you stop consumers spending more in SMS that they have paid for membership? Or are you assuming that only a small % will do this so its worth the economic risk....just curious.

Exactly, never mind the small screen. The technology will catch up eventually, but online porn is so popular because you can jerk off in the privacy of your home. Of course you'll get some sales, you'll get people who'll want to experiment, or download a movie or two, but overall it will not be a big money maker.

I don't see why it would be that big either. News or sports or maybe even movies on a cellphones make sense, but I don't see how porn on cell phones is usable for anything.

Consumer SMS and data plans in the US are different that that of Europe therefore allowing us greater flexibility in what we can offer them and what they or we incur as costs. Our delivery agreements also allow us greater control with regards to internal costs so our economic structure in the offering is not in the negative. Each carrier is different on how they charge end users for this message charges. If it is fixed then yes the end user will incur charges at some point but that can not be avoided. However, this is not part of Mobile Pimp so this part does not apply nor is a text message sent by the end user part of a data download package.

I dig the site! You should really target the foreign surfers with it.. would convert a lot better.. You need sms billing to Europe.

The answer to the whole "why would you watch it on a phone when we have commputers", is that you don't have a computer with you wherever you go. Also, outside of the US not everybody has high speed & a computer.

The people that tend to take the "it will never happen" stance generally wouldn't buy *anything* for their phone. Ringtones, games etc... These are already huge with the younger crowd.

It's largely an age and area thing.

From my understanding, SMS billing cant be used for viewing porn in the US due to a law on the books here. So youre using regular "internet style" means of billing for the mobilepimp.com site, right? I think its acceptable in lots of Euro countries, but not here, to use SMS to bill for porn sent over cell phone lines.

I have a question. All you people out there starting to open up sites devoted to mobile phone porn, how are you sending traffic to it? Is it worth it to send good porn traffic to a site like that? It doesnt seem like it would be....at all. Im just curious...

You can't bill adult direct to the phone in the US. Depending on the country, you can deliver to a lot of European companies.

Personally I think regular sites combined with mobile will work better than stand alone mobile, because you basically wind up with a second shot to convert your existing traffic. But then again, I'm a little biased

This is an easy no-brainer, everyone in the world will own and carry a cellphone or communicator device within the next ten years, high speed bandwidth will be a global commodity, people do not want to be tied to one place, and those that watch porn do not want others like wives or family to go through where they have been and what they have viewed, cellphones and portables are "personal devices" meaning we generally dont share usage the way we do with our home computers or even laptops. Also if you were around to see tech change from LP to 8 track to cassette to cd to MP3 then you realize that everytime the media format changes everything old is new again, many people want their old media on the new format, go ahead ask your buddies how many times the bought Sgt peppers Lonely hearts club so they would have it on the latest format. Or how about on gold cd, or remastered with "never before seen extras" etc. DOnt for a minute think that mobile wont have a huige impact on the biz, it will. and yes we are moving towards a fully integrated information/communication/entertainement platform and delivery vehicle. Dont be a luddite and refuse to acknowledge the future, its happening right now !

I'm still confused.

- You pay for every WAP push (binary SMS) that is sent to an end user right? It is the price of an MT bulk - lets assume 7 cents.

- So a end user pays $30 for a membership per month @ mobilepimp.com

- If I download more than 429 images and video to my cell per month then you will make a loss on me as an end user. I understand that some consumers are charged for receiving WAP push so you may be receiving revenue share on this charge which may offset the costs. But if I am an AT&T user and not charged for MT termination on my tarrif and I download 428 images a month you've made a loss on me, right?

- As you say, there is no MO so you dont have any MO revenue share to offset this cost. Your MT WAP costs are direct cost-of-sale for you.

So what I was curious about is whether you've assumed that the number of people that will download 428, or anywhere near that number, of images/video will be small (i.e.you've taken a calculated risk) and that the net population will not download anywhere near this, so you wll make revenue from most users?

Once`WAP revenue share kicks in then I can see how this model will work very well but until that is available how do you reconcile the risk..or do you not see it as a risk?

I keep hearing people saying this will be big, but I never see anyone post up examples of sites making any money from it now. What are these mobile sites that are making some money from this now?

You can copy music from Kazaa for free but why does Itunes work?? Why does Jamster make over $100m per year in ringtone/wallpaper sales when I can just compose a tune myself or use MS Paint to make a copy wallpaper?

- Most people dont know or don't want to know how to use IR/Bluetooth/USB cable & software to move pirated material to their cell phone. And yes, it is pirated, because your end user agreement does not give you permission to move porn from the net to cell.

- If consumers want porn on their cell then providers of content will use copyright protection methods (watermarks, mobile drm etc etc) to ensure that you MUST pay to see the full size asset. In the same way you must pay Perfecrgonzo if you wanna see how good their video is..yeah you can take a peek at their clear caps all day in a TGP ....but if you want the real stuff you've got to pay.
