Coffee.net @ $20k: Should I buy it?

Zero traffic, but a monster name with monster potential.

I'm very tempted. Should I buy it?

me before I snatch it up.

That's a lot for a .net, but it's a good one. Tough call.

I will never understand this business. Whats the potential? Making it a coffee site? Since its a .net it will get no type in traffic. So basically you could take any name and make it a coffee site. Other potential is reselling it? When does it stop? I mean now its 20k right...if you sell it is the domain suddenly worth more? Can you sell it for 25k? And next week the next person sells it for 30k? Why doesnt the guy who sells it now sell it for 30k then?

From everything internet related domain name business is still one big mystery to me.

If it was $10k or $15k, I'd be all over it.

$20k means I have to develop it or I'll never see my money out of it.

It's an awesome name. You should think about the price though. For .net it's a little pricey.

Coffee is one of those industries with lots of consumer spending on and offline. I could see a nice site selling coffee makes espresso machines, biscotti, coffe syrups and other consumer products. Could and would be very profitable. The question is...and I know your asking yourself, do I want to develop? Now thats a good question. It may take you away from finding more deals.

It's right on the edge.

If it had like even 50 uniques a day, you could do something with it, but it's a brand only.

And the resale potential to someone like Starbuck's, unlike the .com, would be almost nothing.

However, if it was developed, there's no doubt it would get serious legimitimacy fast with that monster name on the biz card.

Ok lets see..
This means it basically reached it max price...you wont be able to sell it with 3k profit by next. You would have to develop it.

No type in traffic. So what kind of traffic would coffee.net get that a 9 dollar domain wouldnt get. What kind of traffic is gonna justify 20k?

You know what i see as potential? Getting a 9 dollar name and pump 20k in it. Be it content, design, paysite, avs, whatever...
You instead are willing to buy a name that itself has no value (no type in traffic) pay 20 fucking k for it and THEN develop it. It will get trade traffic and or SE traffic...nothing a 9 dollar domain wouldnt be able to get.

Fuck, i really must be missing something here.

Shuki, when I had erections.com, all three big drug companies told me flat out: develop us an erectile dysfunction site that is clinical and not pornographic, and we'll give you $10k a month min in banner sponsorships, and triple it if you can get 10k registered users.

Sadly, the thought of actually doing real work put me off of it even though the potential was, er, enormous.

coffee.com is a redirect to another "name" coffee site.

Domain is worth, well, whatever you think your business plan can support.

I hear you on that one.

What some people fail to see is that the since the .com is gone all the other companies have no option to advertise on what could be a great coffe oriented site. It still has the category killer name just with a different extension. I guarantee that if you can develop coffee in the same way that the drug companies wanted erections done you will have the same opportunities with coffee companies.

starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, etc will do banner ads

I GOT IT

Lets all go buy domain names in businesses that we have no clue about. It will instantly make us knowledgeable and we can land the big supplier. Like Juan Valdez, you know him and his donkey will be happy to supply for that site.

Starbucks, LOOK OUT!

.com will go down and .NET is going to be the number one top level domain (pls quote this with lots of :1orlaugh smilies )

coffee.net is well worth $20k , you can make a very good site out it, namely , the coffee network ,

if users know your project as the coffee network, then my guess is all the return visits will have no problem remembering coffee.net and actually coming back to that url

the se traffic once the site is developed can be ENORMOUS thx to the very good name , getting ranked on the top 10 with a name like coffee.net should be doable

bottom line, if you plan to develop yes buy , if not , no dont buy

He wont get scammed. "Bob", the seller, is a top grade domainer and overall great person as well.

As for the domain "coffee.net" at 20K... I think it's a bargain at the price.

no! buy a $15 domain, and put $19,985 into promoting and marketing the site.

saddam.com

some potentials include: increasing future traffic during saddam's trails.

everytime there is news about saddam/iraq. traffic goes up.

holywood or documentary making corporations may be interested in this domain in the future also.

i can go as low as 16k

in my opinion if it is marketed right, ( sponsored by google ads or something ) it can easily make $1000's this year alone with the saddam news intensing.

in addition to that if you can get PBS or SONY or some other company that is working on a saddam documentary/film to show interest in it, they'd probably pay close to 80-100k
