How many members do you have (opt ins) before you start mailing?

I mean, I/you can buy 100,000,000 emails for a couple hundred dollars, but for your own sites, how many emails do you collect before you bother mailing them offers or whatever?

Do you think 10,000 of your own optins is enough? Should I wait for 50k? More?

All opinions and experience is appreciated

Theres no point in "not" sending them emails to at least get them used to recieving things from you, and you can weed out the complainers.

5k and up is worth hitting.

Remember, response rate is much better if they subscribed.

Why not mail now? And keep mailing as it grows, it should make no difference at all besides getting more hits.

I have a small optin list that grows with a bunch of mails every day...i see no point in waiting till it hit 20k

I'm at about 10,000 right now, just installing DADA script right now.

Just trying to think what to hit them with that won't encourage them to use competition over my own services.

How do you plan on hitting the inboxes of hotmail and yahoo etc. I bet 80% of your list is big domains.

We have a list of a similar size but have been mailing them from the beginning approximately two times per week on average.

Send direct from the domain/server they signed up with?

I have their IP, host and signup date, first and last name.

Including most of the above in the message would cut down on complaints.

I use bighip but i preferably would use my own system but i think as soon as you start mass sending, optin or not, can spam or not, the big domains will move it to the spam folder right away.
