Check out www.GetDataBack.com.

they might be able to offer some help.

they helped us get through a nightmare data loss problem recently and we recovered most of our files.

their prices are reasonable. they will offer you some over the phone help before charging you anything.

good luck

YARGH!

If it's a simple drive letter problem, I can help. Happens all the time with my firewire's, and USB external's.

Go to start>all programs> administrative > computer management> Disk Management, then click drive in question, then right click, and select change drive letter. Change it to whatever you need it to be, and that's it. Hope this helps.

As for data recovery...

If the pirate's solution did not fix it,..

Make sure you plug the firewire drive into the USB/Firewire port on your motherboard. I had a similar problem, and it was because I was using the PCI card, and not the USB on the board (hence not enough power).

PCI cards sometimes do not have enough power to operate a ext. HD and you will either need to use the power supply that comes with them, or make sure you use the USB/Firewire onboard your motherboard.
