Yahoo Prepping For War, E-mail Storage Upped to 1GB!

Yep this is gonna be full war, Yahoo wants to take Google's place and they're trying hard. Beginning of April all free mailboxes on Yahoo will be increased from 250mb to 1GB.

full story here:

yeh there's easy freeware available to make your Gmail account integrate as a solid disk in windows explorer (i.e. a F drive).

I can't see how allowing 1GB storage is profitable for them - must be a loss leader so they can spam your Yahoo account.

just a tease to get people more trusted with the Yahoo brand, seriously how many users will really use all that space?

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I had a hard enough time killing my last email account with them by flooding my box with attachments. And now that means come april it's going to re-open!

Damn I'm going to spend all day sending myself 10 meg email attachments to close the darn thing again.

I always got a copy of the most important files on my computer, but if they someday
shut down the service, then you have to download the files..
But I'm pretty sure gmail has some sort of backup system.. I think there will be
alot of pissed of users if suddently all their mail was gone.. Hehe..

Offering more space just means you can accept more spam before your email starts to bounce.

exactly, if you have really important e-mails manual backups are still the way to go!
