GFY Photographers or anybody else in the know.
I know you have to have a "good eye" to take pictures. But obviously a good eye isn't the only thing that distinguishes Bruce Weber from your average Joe photographer.
What are the elements that go into taking "magazine quality" or "muesem quality" prints? Prints that you find in ADS, in magazine, and on covers of magazines are clearly superior to something you might find on Mr. Local Photographers website ( http://modeling.bthphoto.com/modelport.html ). I was looking for Photographers on OneModelPlace and it was laughable to say the least Any Input would be appreciated.

top photographers would not make it without a good eye, the talent, the ability to capture what they saw that no one else can see...
i will have my mainstream portfolio up soon, i'll show you some stuff... my brother's work has been in quite a few mags, it takes alot of talent, the rest is easy, without the talent 'eye' you have just another photo...

good photography and good art always are of the opinion of the viewer - it's all art - - labors of love and creativity - it's all potentially commercial - style and techinique separate the pros from amatuers - being able to deliver what the client wants and is willing to pay a lot of money for is significant - not everyone has the experience to dleiver on time and budget - I myself feel very capable I am doing professional quality work but I am limited because of several reasons - it's who you know - and who you can believe in - in this business there are a lot of critics and wannabes - I continue to work hard for the day when I will have that shot at the big time - this is my only plan - work hard - improve every shoot and video - I have done quite a bit of pro work but continue to drive to bigger productions - wider audiences - thanks for the therapy - I am re-motivated to work even harder now

I agree with all that has been said so far...good equipment (camera, lights, etc) really makes a huge difference too.

Not just good equipment but knowledge and skill of how to use it. A good photographer can take an awesome picture with a point and shoot camera. But give him a light kit and a $7k camera and he can do exactly what he wants. Meaning he can reproduce results because he knows the science and the skills behind photography.

It's about three things.
The eye, some have it and some do not. Can be improved but tough to learn. The knowledge, how to control light, the equipment and the models. Can be taught to most willing to learn. The equipment, the easiest part you just need the money. |

Yeah...Too bad Ansel Adams didn't have any of that stuff. If he did, he might have been able to make a name for himself. |

Truth is, I use a $200 digital camera that I dropped a few times. PS, I'm not a great photographer, I know it.. I'm just making a point. |

< start ass kissing and flowers >
Red Ezra just might be the best photographer on GFY. This is just my opinion cuz he shoots things I really like. His work is art. < End ass kissing and flowers > PS: He nor anyone else ask me to post this, but I am a fan of his work/ART.

I'd rather not embarrass myself again. I was too busy playing with different setting trying to learn new shit. I should have just put it where I know it would have worked best and got the shots I wanted. |

But I don't need to tell you that. Even if you didn't get that one shot, you've got hundreds of thousands of others that illustrate your talent. |

Wow!!!
I just visited the Red Ezra web site... Sorry, but I had never heard of you before David. After viewing your site I'll never forget you. That is some eye-popping great photography. See for yourselves: Red Ezra BTW, who designed your web site? Thank you for serving as an inspiration and making my day. ADG Webmaster |

However as for making money with this kind of work, that I'm not so sure on. The money is not in glamour like it used to be. |
