"...perfect country and government." You are joking of course. The country nor the government has ever been anywhere close to perfect and never will be. You...apparently...and others positively...read into my posts your own agendas.

I defend my country and my government against misinformation...bullshit...and out and out lies. My country and my government have suffered with gross imperfections for all of my life...and I am now in my late forties. My country and my government have enough ills that I do not easily tolerate misinformation...bullshit and out and out lies about either.

There's nothing wrong in defending your country hoss. The problem lies in the fact that many will turn a blind eye to injustice in order to do it. Once their views are set, there is no changing them...no matter if they are right or wrong...no matter how much evidence is shown. Those kinds of people scare me. Drifting through life with fucking blinders on...never going off the path...

Just a couple qoutes, first from a very prominent Republican mind you.....

"Corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow" Abraham Lincoln - 1864

and this one's author escapes me, but it seems appropriate

"If those in charge of our society - politicians, corporate executives and owners of press and television can dominate our ideas, they will be secure in their power. They will not need soldiers patrolling the streets, we will control ourselves"

I hate to be the one to inform you of this, but political parties have completely traded ideologies about 3 or 4 times since 1864. The current Republican party is not the party that began in the mid 1800's and the Democratic party is REALLY not the party it began in the late 1700's.

Here is another quote from your boy Lincoln you may find suites todays Republican party much better. This is from one of the Lincoln/Douglas debates:

"I believe the American Negro should be freed, no man in our sacred Union should be held in bondage. But make no mistake, I do not foresee the Negro as ever being equal to whites. Nor should they be."

Ummm, sure he was against slavery, but he was no defender of equal rights by any means.

The press has always been this way. Americans didn't even know Roosevelt was crippled for months because the photographers agreed to photograph him from the waist up and the press never expose him.

I can name about 10 kids from my HS that got into trouble 25-30 years ago and nothing was EVER in the paper because the parents quashed it.

And every paper has it's slant too.

contrary to your quickly formed opinion of what I may or may not know about Lincoln or the fact that current political parties bear little resemblence to their forefathers, this thread has nothing to do with equality.

Nope just sick and tired of Republicans running around every 4 years screaming like retards, "THE PARTY OF LINCOLN!"

Thomas_AT_eroswebmaster 03-20-2005 11:33 PM

Well I agree with you on that, since even Lincoln's contemporaries (other Republicans and members of his own cabinet) thought him weak and sentimental, and all figures from history have their inherant character flaws. My point was to juxtapose his statement against the, shall we say "liberal" bias that the so-called conservatives in govt. for the past 50 years have given towards corporate entities that back their agendas.

But back to the original spirit of this thread, Adolph Hitler once said (paraphrasing from memory), "The bigger the lie you tell, the more people will believe it".

All of his stuff is top notch, and he does a great job of digging beneath the shit.
