Yes they can......many kids were injured while attempting to reenact a stunt from the movie the program....they had to cut it from the film.

Indeed...I seem to recall a barrage of lawsuits against the movie studio, from parents of kids who ran into streets to lay down in front of trucks and were run over. Makes me wish I were a movie studio so I could countersue the parents for raising such idiotic children.

You could fake that very easliy using track motion or a similar effect. Would go like this...

Shoot video of the kid running out into the street and jumping on the ground, etc.

Shoot video from the same spot within the same time frame (to account for shadows) of the bus passing.

Overlay one video onto another using a mask or track motion effects.

Done.

Notice when he runs accross the street the other car does not even react... He is looking to the right and just barely misses getting hit. If he was any less lucky, and this was real, he could of been hit by that other car.
