What's the deal with all the shitty blogs all of a sudden?

No offense, but some of these 'porn blogs' suck the big one. If you're gonna have a blog, have one for a reason? e.g., passionate commentary about current events ... the kind of thing blogs are SUPPOSE to be about. All I see in here is a bunch of one entry blogs with a few pics of naked chicks. As far as I'm concerned, these things are basically free sites with no image content. Make them substantative or don't get into the blog biz.

Exactly.
And people don't realise that it's the good ones that make money, not the cheap crap that any schoolboy can make.

Everyone is doing blogs since google put some blogs on #1 with some keywords. Now these blog people were smart and started at the right time. However, once you see others being succesfull it's usually too late, especially when there are a lot blogs already. Here's a tip: Spend your time on something new. Not on blogs, and you will get there.

some people aren't trying to make money with their blogs, but beyond that i think that since blogs inherently are like your own homepage the substance on them is highly variable. some people post minimally, some people feel it's their duty to post pictures, videos, links, current events they feel are pertinent and their commentary on them etc. i think with blogs popping up daily it's just like anything else on the internet, you have to surf for the content you want.

There's always an exception. But are we talking hundreds or thousands? And did you have some big sites to push it? To me, a site is not worth anything if it doesn't return at least a grand every month. Simply since the internet offers so many ways to do get atleast that amount with a single page.

ummm, like I said, they are new. I do not expect them to make thousands immediately, although the newest (less than a week old) will probably be making a grand a month rather quickly but we are doing it a little differently.

As far as pushing traffic to them, all search engine, and the blog network I have built.

It's not only Porn blogs. The quality of the whole god damn internet is going down nowadays - from the content in blogs to wasted, unused prime domains.

agree.
The quality of whole net went down.
And it's only because of cheap BW imo, cause anyone can pay $50 and run shitty sites on his own dedicated server and those $50 - exactly what they earn per month.

Blogs took us back to the Geocities days. Only difference is, now we have DHTML and RSS

Do you actually SAY anything in your blogs that anyone would want to read? (I haven't read your blog so I don't know the answer to that question). People like reading GOOD blogs because they are GOOD. If a person starts a blog JUST to make a buck, that tells me that he/she has nothing important to say and that he/she probably won't be writing entries in it six months from now. If you want to make $$ with blogs, don't think about the $$ at first. Just make your blog the best blog it can be. The $$ will FIND YOU if it's worth reading.

We REALLY need to think more about QUALITY in all our projects. QUALITY sites, not just blogs, get QUALITY return traffic. There are WAAAAYYY too many shitty sites, porn AND mainstream, on the web these days.

As a matter of fact, yes. In fact, I have some entries that are getting daily comments almost like a damn chatroom.

That was one of my concerns for the blog I write at Kblogger as well as my surfer based "porn blog." Would anyone want to read what I wrote? Turns out they do.

Not just because tASSy has a great ASS.... well, I just wanted to use her quote.

It's like this... People who talk a lot, usually have nothing to say and clog the ears in their immediate vicinity with uselessness. People who spam a lot, are the same way, but on a much larger scale; they irritate a greater population and thus make more deaf ears for those who actually might have something to offer. Unfortunately, blogs have followed the same route as spam, for some reason (search engines), and will thus create an even deeper hole of uselessness inside a genuinely creative place that once was the Internet.

We are always interested in having quality industry people blog for us. And, the benefit is two fold. Exposure for you and exposure for us.

It's a win win.

I listed some of our active bloggers in another thread, baddog being one of our more active and prolific bloggers.....if he werent' sick right now, there would be another entry by now, I'm sure. And, we trade links with each other to build traffic and ranking...plus, I write monthly articles for the print magazine, which features our bloggers...

So, I don't see how this is a shitty blog thing, especially when I'm seeing our traffic steadily increasing..for a blog that has been revamped in the past month and a half...

Other blogs, I've seen, which have been around longer, have significant rankings, are showing up in search engines....which means they are getting traffic....if they know how to utilise that traffic, there's money at the end of the rainbow.

Then you probably have a quality blog that you actually update, which is fine. Most newbies these days are going for the traffic. I saw one crappy porn blog recently where the entries were nothing but lists of keywords surrounded by porn ads.

You have a point... from a blog content consumer's perspective. But many if not most of the current crop of porn blogs were built mainly for SEO purposes. From a content perspective, you nailed the key point DIRECT TRAFFIC (ie., end users) would look for in a block--daily updated fresh text content that is deeper than TGP/Free sites.
