Plasma TV verses LCD Projector TV

Plasma TV verses LCD Projector TV

Why go for a plasma when for half the price you can get a lcd projector which can give you a picture any size you want. Some say even sharper and better quality than plasma.

YARGH! I'm not sure what to say. I might get me another strike.

Seriously though Lumens play a big part in the quality of a projector. High lumens can be played in a fairly well lit room with no "fade". A downside is lamp bulb can be exensive, and don't have a long life.

Depending on how often you watch TV, the plasma burns out quite fast. They say the plasma TV's only last for 4-5 years. However they are light weight and can be hung on a wall.

IMHO LCD is a nicer picture, lasts longer, but anything bigger than 36" needs a stand and cannot be hung on the wall.

I bought a plasma for my living room beside my kitchen, this is where we generally just sit and watch the news. If I want to watch a movie I go watch my other tv which is in my other living room it's a 60" Hitachi Super Ultravision.

He's not talking about flatscreen LCD. Projector TV's suck. They are ugly and huge.

If you like quality and have cash, go for a flatscreen LCD. If you're short on cash, go for a plasma instead of LCD. If you're even shorter on cash, go for a projector LCD instead of a plasma.

i have a dlp projector and its fucking awesome. 1000 bucks...72 inches right on the wall....could be 12 feet if i wanted, 14,000 lumens ,2000:1 contrast ratio...and as far as bulb life...2000 hours...300 bucks for the bulb wich you can change yourself in less than 5 minutes..as opposed to a lcd or dlp projector tv wich has same bulb life..but you need a tech to come to your house and change it..and its not covered by warranty...Plasma is hot if you can afford a 60 inch for atleast 7k and plan on buyin another 1 in 4 years

You have to have a dark room to use front projectors.

If you have windows in the room then forget about using the projector unless you totally black the room out with shades or wait till the sun goes down. But if you have a basement or a room where you can control the light then they are awesome.

:2cents Plasma / LCD

Quality will be dependent on the manufacturer. Take a trip to your local Circuit City and judge for yourself, opinions are like assholes everyone has one!

To me an LCD TV is far far better quality color fidelity and D-Max than Plasma but the down side is they still cost a bundle. I have heard story's about Plasma burning out and colors fading in 18 months or less. I have a 42" back projection LCD in our office and im not to impressed with the quality. Stick to the straight LCD screen for the best picture is my view.

The only fairytale I see is your magical ability to read plasma when they said LCD. Both clearly say plasma can be hung on the wall while LCD are to heavy.

Yup...I got to the same conclusion...however...flatscreen LCD are still pricy!..I got myself a 27" and i'm happy with it so far...HDTV and DVD with component cable/progressive scan both look awesome...

Do you own either one of them? I know what the difference between plasma and LCD is. You can hang both on the wall.

I agree with you, just pointing out they were saying LCD. IMO if you want to, anything can be hung on a wall.

Yeah I know. I thought the first guy was talking about anything bigger than 36" couldn't be mounted on the wall. Guess I got caught up in the heat of the moment.

It doesn't really matter, LCDs are NOT heavier than plasma, it's the other way around. Anyways, nitpicking here.

I think people are confused...

They current make
LCD Projectors - this is that square box that shoot a light at the wal.
LCD Projection - These look sorta like the old school project tvs but smaller
LCD Flat - These are like your flat panel monitors, but bigger and can be wall mounted just like a plasma. Not sure what the biggest size is for these yet, but I know you
can get a larger plasma.

I have my LCD Projection Grand Wega III and LOVE it. I bought it to use as a computer screen. Works great for gaming at 1280x720
