very true, but I know of a few guys that make more than some well known medium sized sponsors. I bet you if you know what you are doing being a webmaster is much more profitable.

of course, just because you own an affiliate program doesn't mean you are making any decent money....

Yes, if you're talking about a webmaster using several sponsors.

Now if you look strictly to earnings from a single sponsor and the given sponsor, then I'd say the sponsor. You can't shave the sponsor.

I believe it. Many webmasters don't want the hassle of running a program and having to deal with day to day stressful logistics like filtering fraudulent wms etc etc.
