CCBill gets a bad rap with the press

http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/6/23482.html

The real issue here is these guys, an influential British news site devoted to technology, has said something to the effect of "watch your credit card statements" if you surf for porn.

Lovely.

Yeah, he did write that article, but I hardly see a vendetta against CCBill. If what he wrote is true, then he's justified in his reporting it. If he gets the run-around from the CCBill management, I guess he would rather make them look bad than tow the line. Must be the difference between mainstream press and the online press.

He seems like a real dolt! Any news person who would write up something like that does not seem to be credible.

Ludedude, what happened at ccbill is in fact not funny at all ... and it is a problem for sure, but it´s always a matter of pointing out the problem ...

Shit, TWO stories in a day. http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/6/23493.html

What's the response from CCBill? C'mon Kim, tell us what's up cause this is sounding pretty bad from the outside world.

That's gotta be the dumbest bit of html written by a disgruntled porn webmaster, I've seen in a bit

A poor mans web version of the National Enquirer

"Porn Webmaster visited by Aliens"

the forgot to tell him it was "illegal aliens"

aren't these the same guys that said something about flash cash a year or so ago??

Traffic must be low at the retarded... so they need to spruce up their hits with one or two visits from the GFY bbs

If ccbill made a mistake at all, it was waiting so long to tell their
webmasters that a potential problem existed.

I do applaud ccbill for their honesty. Certain other billing companies
would not have been so honest.

CC Processors just dont get it sometimes. I dont think webmasters are
ever really mad about glitches and periods of down time. We all pretty
much realize these things happen sometimes. We just want to know whats
going on and to be kept up to date. Am I right ?

Well I haven't read the register yet, I guess I will here in a few --

One thing I would like to mention is pretty simple -- we don't jump the gun and act on unproven allegations -- we may be a little slow but with a system the size of ours, to check every last bit of it to either confirm or assess the extent of a situation doesn't happen in mere minutes.

We're very conscious of our clients and would rather err or the side of caution than to be crying wolf every time someone starts a rumor --

I think he was mistaken in assuming there was a CC harvest.

"And if you're a customer of a CCBill merchant, then you'd better find out if they capture and store CC data on their server. It doesn't appear that the credit harvest from this breach has been abused yet, so there's time to cancel your card if you think you might be at risk. ®"

No comment other than to say again -- card numbers, checks, are on totally different systems than anything else we have. Even I don't see card numbers.

That's a good thing, Kim...and we know that, but it's the consumers who need to be reassured so they will keep paying paying paying!! I've still got stuff to go touch and feel at the mall then pay for

kimmykim - ccbill i wish you the best!

i hope your cc database did not get hacked, visa and mc fines VERY big...like $300,000+

however, with the right encryption you can keep the documents safe on a server.

That reporter doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground, IN MY OPINION.

If we had a cc issue do you really think that MC or Visa would not terminate us?

Or that our chargebacks wouldn't be so high we would lose our accounts?

I'm off to the airport now, first vacation I've had in a LONG time --

I will be checking email but will not have icq --

If you have q's about anything be sure to use the mail.

I'll try to pop in on the boards --

HAPPY HOLIDAYS guys

That was the gist of his SECOND article on the subject today. I hope he's wrong

Disgruntled or not - why are these companies/people cut so much slack? You guys are always slamming people that are not kissing ass on those part of the GFY Mafia Family here on the boards. They can do know wrong.

On Thursday KimmyKim is SLAMMING people posting reasonable info and questions - including an email from CCBill themselves:
http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/...ML/014516.html

These aren't the "I heard VISA wa no longer taking porn sites" or ARS is shaving, because I didn't get my signup this month type posts - these had detailed info.

CCBill claims they are trying to figure out who is behind the attacks, but is not contacting the FBI. Good luck in getting any subpeonas.
http://news.cnet.com/news/0-1003-200...html?tag=mn_hd

They were notified about it on Monday and still denied something is happening by Thursday. Poor customer support and irresponsible security measures. There is no way this stuff takes that long to verify.
