Im getting my taxes done at H&R Block next week

is that a good or bad idea?

They did a thing in Maxim magazine comparing Turbo Tax and H&R Block and the hrblock guy found $1,000 in deductions that the turbo tax software couldn't find.

I'd go to a real accountant but I dont know anyone and I dont know if anyones good just from phone book listings.

I've heard a few people on here bitch about getting fucked by H&R Block.. I'd use something other than Maxim for biz advice.

yeah, and also think about what the general population of maxim readers is...i would say 80% are poor to middle class working men...which we do not fall into....there are so many things we all do that can be written off or used during tax season

you NEED a seasoned pro in this field to help you get the most

def. get an accountant cause H&R guys are basically just trained employees whereas your own personal accountant would know you perosnally and your financial situation more indepth.

we found our accountant this way. we called tons of people and left messages. he was the only one who called us back. we went in to ask him some questions and meet him. we felt very comfortable with him. he has been our accountant for 5 years now. he's sooo cool.

getting tax advice from Maxim magazine??! likely future update: the extra $1000 found by H&R Block triggers an IRS audit, finds the deductions were incorrectly applied and the taxpayer owes back taxes and penalties.
