I am trying to open new html pages and move them around on 2 monitors and I am limited to the DreamWeaver window.. older versions I was able to do this.

Change to the Dreamweaver 4 environment so your all your palletes and windows become undocked. In Dreamweaver MX they force you to have docked pallates (which sucks elephant nuts!!!). I just switched to DW4 Environment and have had no problems at all!

I used MX for a short time before switching back to 4. Seemed incredibly buggy to me, but I was running it on a Win98 machine.

I hated MX when it first came out but now I really like it a lot. There are several functions available in MX that make it much better than DW4. I hated it because it forced me to dock all my views/windows but once I changed it over it has been incredible to work with.

I didn't mind the docking. I had some really weird things going on, and this was a fresh install on a newly reformatted hard drive. I couldn't reliably have DW and Fireworks open at the same time. DW always had troubles connecting to my server. And if you previewed in browser, it wouldn't alt+tab back...you had to manually minimized every other window so that DW was the only one left before it would show; the problem was miniized (but not eliminated if every window including DW was not in full screen mode). If I worked exclusively in DW and never switched to any other program, then it worked pretty well.

The bad thing is I basically had to reprogram my new site when I switched back, since the asp behaviors weren't compatible. The codes obviously still worked, but if I wanted to modify them, it was complicated, so I just reprogrammed everything.
